I received this today. Sale goes on for 4 days. So if you have been thinking of this....

Other refurbished items are also available. I chose this for impact.

Note: I have purchased Nikon Refurbished products in the past and they are like new!

I'm a fan of the price savings refurbished. The only caution is to read the fine print and consider if a reduced time-period for the product warranty justifies the lower price.

I've purchased Nikon Refurbished. Was never too concerned about the warranty. And, yeah, they looked and worked like new! Especially a 70~200mm f/2.8 VR. I've had and used it hard for years now. And considerably less than the new cost.

.
Are these refurbs being sold directly by Nikon USA (as in the refurbishing was done by Nikon) or some non-authorized dealer? If the former they should come with a 90 day warranty from Nikon USA. If the latter you might not be able to get any needed service done by Nikon down the road.

Refurbed by Nikon. At least that's my understanding!

If you do decide to purchase just be sure you are getting a Nikon USA version. Third party sources that are not Nikon authorized dealers sell import or so-called Gray Market versions - if you need repair service on such, Nikon will not do the repair even if you are willing to pay out of pocket.

If I'm correct, Nikon gives a one year warranty as if new. But that canon guy is correct, best to read the fine print no matter what you purchase.

"Have purchased" Don't have any intention to purchase any more photo gear anytime soon. Nikon or otherwise!

Nikon only gives 90 days for refurbished I think.

AFAIK this is a Nikon sale sponsored by Nikon. No 3rd party involvement.

Not the savings that can be found at KEH or at HedgeHog (with patience). I suppose that you give extra credit for Nikon selling Nikon. I have bought from all three mentioned plus Adorama and have not gotten a defective Nikon product in 15 years.
Of course I will not buy a car New and pay for the shine - either.

I never had an issue with refurb products. Perhaps I have been very lucky but I never had an issue with a second hand camera or lens either.
