There are some things in the bill that could improve the situation but as to border security and turning the tide in short order Biden’s pen would have a much more immediate effect.

An Executive Order is reversable with the stroke of the pen from any succeeding President.

It's also at the mercy of the US Appeals Court (or the Supreme Court), which trump learned with his Muslim ban in 2017.

A law is harder to quickly overturn!

Yeah, you nailed this one! It’s Putin! Of course a secure border has absolutely nothing to do with sovereignty.

Try not to utter that around any Ukrainians!

Liar, there was no such Muslim ban, That’s just one of your many other conspiracies you push on the daily basis.

Total BS! The bill failed to meet the expectations of Republican voters and even though compromise can be expected in legislation the bill gave far too much to the liberals in their efforts to import a new dependency class of future democrat voters.

WHAT are you talking about?

The bill gave the GOP everything that they'd been asking for.

Like I said, BS! I love it when demonics think that they know what republicans want or what their political priorities should be.

Unfortunately, we know what you want better than you do.
It's sad.

Sorry, but on Day One, President Biden sent an immigration bill to Congress. Nothing happened with that bill in Congress.

Don't blame the election on the 2024 bill's timing. It's been decades since the last meaningful immigration bill was passed.

Enslaving Americans under taxes?

Let's see, it was trump and the GOP who cut taxes for corporations and the very rich in 2017. Those cuts have compounded the Federal dept and deficit.

And the GOP opposes raising the cap on earnings for Social Security contributions. The folks who earn more would be the only ones affected by the earnings cap raise or removal, the majority wouldn't be affected.

For 2024, that cap was just raised to $168,000. Why aren't all earnings taxed?

Personally, I'd be more than willing to contribute a little more to the SS fund in order for the fund to remain solvent, but my earnings fall under that current cap. Plus, I'm reaching the point, that within the next few years, I'll be fully retired. I'm currently working my last job before retirement, no matter how long it lasts.
Sorry, but on Day One, President Biden sent an imm... (show quote)

Just a crock of mierda.

LOL. Frank, there is nothing sadder than a Biden supporter. His dementia is all the current rage in the media these days.

trump uses FEAR to control the GOP and get them to bend to his wishes.

trump's wish is that he wants to use the border crisis as a campaign issue, so he's instructed the GOP to not pass the immigration bill.

It's that simple.

If you can't see that happening, then you've got to get your eyes examined, and look for a better source for your news, because it's been all over the news for the past few days!

Duh, Trump wants the border for a campaign issue, brilliant! That doesn’t excuse the fact that the left proffers a bill, knowing full well that it wouldn’t be accepted in the house, in the eleventh hour after reading the tea leaves so they could reverse the advantage after allowing three years of chaos on the border. As to Trump’s sway, why would anyone fear Trump after (as often pointed out on this site and elsewhere) he had it handed to him in ‘18, ‘20 and ‘22?

I said in the short term as many of the items in the bill would take some time to implement. I think the bill should have stayed alive and addressed issues through amendments to include stronger security components and not include the ridiculous numbers allowed to pass before triggers could be implemented. Additionally, if you read the language there is still much discretion allowed which there is no evidence after the past three years this administration would enforce. After all, if you look at the numbers, the policy of catch and release, this administration has allowed 8,000,000 in and no other administration prior has allowed/interpreted the existing law in the same manner.

So another demonic characterizes the bill that the republican voters do not support....

You make my previous point. Langford caved to the democrats plain and simple and Republicans in both the Senate and the House made it clear that the bill did not represent the will of their voters. 5000/day, how is that not an open border and the president would have discretion to just declare an emergency and use an EO to override the other provisions in the bill and fully open the border. The bill was garbage.

Clear. Notice how that has become an overused word with the Dimcrats. KJP anyone? As soon as that word is invoked, whatever follows will be anything but clear'.
