Stark, ethereal, and a bit "Hitchcock-esque". What more could you ask for in a black-and-white mood image?
And I do agree that removing the poles moves toward a more interesting and dynamic image.

I like it--lots of contrast on a foggy day.

Beautiful Linda. I think I like the color version better. Maybe it's time you move up to full version of Photoshop. You already know the basics and the transition would be easy. There are so many more things you can do faster and easier in PS.

I know you liked the telephone poles in this shot, but I removed them in less than 30 seconds in PS.
Oh my, the proof is in the picture, isn't it.

I owe an apology to NMGal. This is perfect, Jack. Thank you!

For PS I'd need a bigger monitor and a desk to put it on and a chair. I don't have the space, the money or the inclination. I edit on a 13.3" Macbook Air and am very content...except when I need to do something hard.

Thank you, John. Fog does offer some great photo ops, especially if there's no snow - just gray and brown and dead

Perhaps the hawk wasn't stirring because it had frozen. Ha. I like this photo better in black and white. You really captured the starkness and the chill. And I think I prefer the version with the telephone poles; you kind of expect them along a road.

Wonderful scraggly tree. The poles marching down the land provide depth. Excellent.
