The cost of the vehicle is not the issue, its the cost of the body repairs, with a fender-bender easily costing over$40,000.

Weight wouldn't be a problem if people realized you don't need to drive around with 50% space / loading capacity you'll never use. A Volkswagen ID3 (77kWh) for example is not heavier than a modern pickup truck or MPV.

Here in Southern Oregon I too have seen many of these trucks. My first awareness of the brand and truck, is from a reality documentary from 2019 on Apple TV called ‘A Long Way Up’. About a team embarking on a 13,000 mile journey from the southern most point in South America to Los Angles, Ca. Using A Prototype EV Harley Davidson Motorcycle, and having a Rivian EV Truck as the chase vehicle. Despite the issues of many EV’s on the road, these trucks are here.

Now … THAT is a great truck, and an even better engine. I worked for Ford Motors Co, and owned a 2000 with the 7.3 that motor is a IH NAVSTAR T444E by International. Aka 7.3. But no more, I am now very satisfied with my 2023 3500 Duramax.

I was behind one myself weeks ago. I had to Google the name. I saw it was made by a startup company. I agree the price is way too high for most people.

Quite a few Rivians here in the south where I live along with many, many Teslas, Nissan Leafs and others. Since Tesla dropped the price on their base models, they are everywhere. I have at least two neighbors that have Teslas.

To be honest, Red6, no, I have not priced a Lexus SUV. We, (my wife and I,) are very happy with our 2017 Hyundai, Tucson. LOL, at my age, why bother with a new car...
