I am starting the Europe 2022 Trips with an "out-of-continent" experience: Since I source these pictures from the Interim Albums on my photo website, the first activity that I posted there for 2022 was a set of images from a snowshoe walk I made with some friends in the Mount Baker Wilderness Area here in Washington State, actually about 1 1/2 hour drive from our home. So please forgive me if I first show you a part of our "hinterland". I used to drive quite frequently into this area in the winter, as about 20 minutes up from the location of this section of the North Fork Nooksack River lies the Mount Baker ski area. Well, I gave up skiing some 6 years ago, just got plan too old for it, didn't have the strength in my legs any longer, took forever to put on the ski boots, etc, etc. And if I ever fell, which luckily didn't happen too often, the effort to stand up again was getting increasingly harder and more frustrating - so, one just has to know when it is time to kiss such a beautiful activity goodbye.

I had never done any snowshoeing before (or since, as a matter of fact), so two friends active in this sport enticed me to come along and I gave it a try and actually enjoyed it quite a bit. Since this was my first try, I did not want to be encumbered with my big camera, so I took only my Samsung Galaxy cell phone along. And that was a new cell phone which I just acquired shortly before and I actually took my very first pictures with that phone on that day - so I had a double new experience with the snowshoes and the cell phone camera.

I hope you can forgive me for this slight deception here in this my first post of the 2022 travel experience and that you can enjoy these images as well. The European pictures will commence in the next set, which I will post in 30 minutes or so.

Thanks Mike - unlike for most of my photography, for this set I had to work: "stomping through the snow"

Glad to hear that you did, Eugene. To be quite honest, I had much more winter scenes when living in NY than out here, but there I HAD to stomp through the snow in the city to go to work, here in my retirement I have the option but not the obligation to venture into the wintry landscape.

Beautiful set, Joe! Would love to have been there with you. Used to do a lot of snowshoeing when I was younger.
