I am starting the Europe 2022 Trips with an "out-of-continent" experience: Since I source these pictures from the Interim Albums on my photo website, the first activity that I posted there for 2022 was a set of images from a snowshoe walk I made with some friends in the Mount Baker Wilderness Area here in Washington State, actually about 1 1/2 hour drive from our home. So please forgive me if I first show you a part of our "hinterland". I used to drive quite frequently into this area in the winter, as about 20 minutes up from the location of this section of the North Fork Nooksack River lies the Mount Baker ski area. Well, I gave up skiing some 6 years ago, just got plan too old for it, didn't have the strength in my legs any longer, took forever to put on the ski boots, etc, etc. And if I ever fell, which luckily didn't happen too often, the effort to stand up again was getting increasingly harder and more frustrating - so, one just has to know when it is time to kiss such a beautiful activity goodbye.
I had never done any snowshoeing before (or since, as a matter of fact), so two friends active in this sport enticed me to come along and I gave it a try and actually enjoyed it quite a bit. Since this was my first try, I did not want to be encumbered with my big camera, so I took only my Samsung Galaxy cell phone along. And that was a new cell phone which I just acquired shortly before and I actually took my very first pictures with that phone on that day - so I had a double new experience with the snowshoes and the cell phone camera.
I hope you can forgive me for this slight deception here in this my first post of the 2022 travel experience and that you can enjoy these images as well. The European pictures will commence in the next set, which I will post in 30 minutes or so.

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow, very good series, Joe.
Hannegan Pass road? Good captures!
You surely have a beautiful area in which to snow shoe. I’m glad your friends were patient with a new snow shoer and photographer at the same time. Idyllic winter scenes.

Thanks Earnest and yes, it did snow and snow and snow ..., glad you enjoyed this "local" experience on our Europe trip series!
Thanks Barbara - it is actually not that "Brrrr" when you have the proper clothing. As they say, there is no bad weather, just inappropriate clothing ... and since I still have my skiing outfit, I can handle that white fluffy stuff and the "Brrrr" that goes with it.

Thanks Dave, yes, Hannegan Pass road, we walked in right from the parking lot at the beginning of the road, it was right after a snowstorm, trees were down and snow was heaped high. Glad to hear that you liked these captures with my cellphone!

Thanks Ellen, yes, we do have quite a beautiful area overall here and especiallly in the 'hinterland". My friends were very patient, I went with them for quite a long stretch, then I let them go a bit further and I slowly walked back, concentrating on photography and we managed to come back to the starting point just about at the same time! Happy to hear that you liked these idyllic winter scenes, I actually used the first picture for my Christmas Card last year, and actually posted in here on UHH, as I just remember.
Beautiful looking country. Great set of photos.
