Everything is SO beautiful, until you get to the price! $94,000 and up is a little steep for 90% of the people.

Was at a Ford dealership several months ago; saw to Ford p/u evs. One was $94,000 & the other one was $134,000. WAY out of my price range.

And a post purchase add on of, say 20-30K for batteries when they fail?
Given the thing doesn't burn up in your garage.
Aannnd an added feature: the comfort of knowing it costs 2-3 times more in electrical bills than that of fuel costs.

and the x-tra added enjoyment of saying ( regular-semi regular basis?) "Sorry we're late ( hour, half a day, day...).
We had to stop and 'electric up', and the lines were soooo long......

Used to pull horse trailers with my pickup; 2000 Ford SuperDuty w/the 7.3 diesel turbo. One of the best Ford engines ever made. Their later diesels; so-so. Still got mine; but with the price going up on that popular engine, I may just sell it, since I no longer pull anything.

Good looking p/u. And those Toyotas last forever.

I was driving behind a Rivian truck yesterday. I had never heard of that brand. It seems very risky to buy a new brand of EV. Even the big-name car makers are having trouble selling their EVs

The first one I saw was in my daughter's driveway. It belonged to my son-in-law's friend. He had just acquired it after about a nine-month wait. I guess the wait time has gone down considerably since others have seen quite a few of them.

I guess you're in NY. Here in Dallas, TX I saw quite a few of them here. I think Tim Cook (Apple CEO) has one of the Rivian trucks. Here in Texas EV are very common.

EV's in oil country. Looks like the times, they are a changing!

I agree - too much for me, but so were cell phones,
handheld calculators and computers. Time will tell.

I see Teslas, Range Rovers, Jeep Wagoneers, and many other expensive cars in large quantities as we drive the TN-FL, TN-IL, and TN-TX roundtrip treks each year.

There's a cognitive disconnect (dissonance) to see all these expensive cars on the road, yet hear those same people complain how bad the economy is for them.

Competition should bring prices down.

I do agree with you, Triple G, but prices won't come down appreciably in the near distant future. Not only that, but charging stations need generators to operate, and that meant fossil fuel. It's a bit of a "catch 22" right? Also, along the same lines, it still costs close to $1000 to buy the latest I-phone...I don't think that is very low for now, and also, at my age, (86) what earthly good would the newest I-phone do me. I just need a phone to call my friends, doctors, etc., and to receive calls. I, at this time, don't need all the bells and whistles. LOL.

My wife and I went for a doctor appointment a few days ago and there was one of those in the parking lot. It looks a lot like the new bronco. I would hope to never own an EV.

Reading some articles yesterday about the EV owners complaining about their vehicles ruining their tires due to the weight. They are discovering that the May 2023 report that electric vehicles go through tires 30% faster than gas-powered vehicles is accurate and are not happy about it.

Many cities are now confirming reports (CNN 2021) that the EV weight is a safety issue and that maintaining roads is getting more expensive.

Seems there are no forward looking folks when it comes to big profits -

Two years ago, the government was authorized to subsidize the installation of EV charging stations. They would cover up to 80% of the cost of installations. They have paid out $7.5 Billion taxpayer dollars so far and not a single charging station has been built. Not a single one has been built that has received this government funding..!

I've seen a couple around the Dallas area and they are pretty distinctive but I have a lot better ways to spend my money.

Sadly, we have to admit we are not the target market for technology unless it's in medicines!

The park service in Yellowstone uses Rivian. They're pretty pricey though.

I did a site inspection for our wetlands commission a few months back, and the project engineer had one. Then, I was chatting with my new neighbor up the street, and he also had one. Gave him the name of my electrician so he can get a charging station installed.

When I win the big lottery, I’ll get one for the gardener to drive. I’ll also get built-in storage for my photo gear.
