A lot less snow now than back in the 40's.
I remember driving through snow tunnels on the highway. And my dad took the 1st picture of the train bringing me home from the hospital a week after I was born in 1948.

The 2nd picture is our yard in the early 50's. We definitely don't see snow like this any more!

And the 3rd picture is how I feel in about February wondering if winter will ever end!!

The climate is changing...

You are correct. The climate has been changing since the Earth was formed. We have had several ice ages where a large part of the USA was covered in ice. We have had warm periods where Greenland had forests and what would be considered a normal climate for northern Kentucky. One great volcanic eruption puts more carbon in the air than mankind in a year. We in the last 3 months have discovered something about water molecules that is going to require rewriting science books. Within the last 6 months we have discovered two major things about ocean currents and the atmosphere. So my point is this. With the hundred years of solid data we have and the limited and at times faulty science I would say the global warming is something other than we are being told. Maybe some sort of control scheme or whatever. Oh I forgot to mention that the ocean levels were very very high at one point. Most of Great Britain was under water. So if anyone thinks upsetting the world over a new energy choice is going to stop the climate from changing they are one of PT Barums people who are born every minute.

You are correct. The climate has been changing sin... (show quote)

You can’t go making sense like that! It’s politically incorrect!

It's a mystery to me how some will reference changes that took millions of years to occur but who ignore the impact of the current 8 billion+ human inhabitants who strain all the resources and give nothing back to Mother Earth.

That was then, this is now.

Heard the news from The Climate Scientists saying the reason for the Artic Blast is due to Global Warming forcing it south. They just can't give up!

I think the Artic Air is just fed up with being cold and is going south to get warm!!!

We'll never run out of shortsightedness and greed

So do we need something like a global epidemic to thin the herd? And not something wimpy like Covid but Black Plague or Spanish flu?

Like it or not, the dinosaurs effected change, some consuming plants and others eating each other. Ice age creatures impacted their environment in the same ways. Most of both Dinos and ice age critters became extinct all on their own even without the help of asteroids.

And how many ice age species are left? Other than possums, none. Why? Because they couldn’t adapt to the warming climate. Oh wait, we humans are the only ones that can change the climate, remember?

Long before Europeans showed up Native Americans caused major changes to the landscape. Right now I can look out north and south windows and see lots of trees. At the beginning of the 19th century this was all prairie with no trees. Early historical accounts confirm that. Is white man the cause of all the trees? No, the Indians regularly burned the prairies, which suppressed tree growth. With the Indians gone we’re far fewer fires and nature reforested the area, not white man. The Indians kept this area deforested. I guess they weren’t environmental friendly were they? Maybe it’s good that they are gone so nature can flex its muscles again naturally.

Curious you're talking about Missouri and your backyard trees as a positive impact of the white man when we know this information about Europe:

"Increased demand for agricultural land and wood fuel were found to be the leading causes for deforestation. Six millenia ago, more than two-thirds of central and northern Europe was covered by forest, and today only one-third is covered by forest."

And: "In just over 100 years the world lost as much forest as it had in the previous 9,000 years"

And yes, eight billion humans can and already have changed the climate. As to thinning the herd, whether it's plague or flu or wars or starvation, we'll find a way

If the science was proven it would most likely make me a believer. But since it is not proven and not even close to being proven I'll stick with the science that is proven. I'm pretty sure the Davos crowd are not scientist. Last week the Davos folks decided that misinformation is the greatest threat. They have come up with a list of how to control it. Wonder why?

At Davos there are far more politicians there than scientists. I figure those protesting oil exploration should be the first ones to give up driving. Those protesting burning fossil fuels for electrical generation should be the first ones to give up all electrical devices.

You know, they need to set a good example rather than flying half way around the world to a conference in order to tell the rest of us to reduce our carbon footprint.
