In the last “big” and long discussion, I was so angry about the objections to the post and the labeling the work “porn” that I used language so intemperate that the admin banned me from further posting on that thread. So. I am going to make a some points here.

1. It may be a radical view, but short of violence and gore, I support any depiction of nudity and sexuality without limits. Nor do I think it’s wrong to arouse prurient interest because in the long run “prurient interest” had survival value. If you have to think about how we make babies, that should help you understand the pleasure principle of sex. I am be two weeks shy of 79, but I love it.

2. The US is particularly puritan and yet pretty sexual; and, as it is with all inner conflicts, our society doesn’t know what to do with sex, sexuality, sensuality and art. Imperfect examples of our conflict over this was the MeToo movement that pitted the entitled members of the patriarchy against the women who finally and rightfully had enough of the patriarchy. Or, that men could sow their wild oats but women had to be virginal.

3. I admire the photographers who post to this section. Jim Tonnes clearly had a great 1970s era. Others too and I appreciate them sharing their work with us. Trust me, had I followed my bliss, as they say, I would have not remembered the 60s and would have probably had a Jim Tonnes 70s.

3. Timmers has taken a lot of heat over the years and I will tell you flat out, he’s a great guy, generous with his knowledge and his talents. He hosted me and another photog to do a half-day shoot with Kat, but it went longer because we were all having such a good time. Kat and I “clicked” in a good way and to this day I wish I could have met VADA. There’s a private and personal backstory about why I couldn’t continue and it rests on me, not Tim. But I think of the shoot every day I am on UHH and wish it were otherwise.

So, I am going to stay subscribed to this section and support anyone who can post here. Yeah, some of the shots are more artistic than others; or better composed, or lighted or whatever. It brings this to mind:

It is not the critic who counts; not the man who points out how the strong man stumbles, or where the doer of deeds could have done them better. The credit belongs to the man who is actually in the arena, whose face is marred by dust and sweat and blood; who strives valiantly; who errs, who comes short again and again, because there is no effort without error and shortcoming; but who does actually strive to do the deeds; who knows great enthusiasms, the great devotions; who spends himself in a worthy cause; who at the best knows in the end the triumph of high achievement, and who at the worst, if he fails, at least fails while daring greatly, so that his place shall never be with those cold and timid souls who neither know victory nor defeat.

This section of the forum, in particular, has indeed become very predictable and utterly boring. As you say, repeat posts. A lot of this stuff goes way back and offers only a different angle or interpretation of the same shot. There are also many instances of images taken from the same session that are submitted over endless posts. For goodness sake, don't drag it out! Show some editorial merit and pitch the best few then move on and spare us your (the poster's) personal tedium. I would suggest that if a poster has nothing original to offer other than the rehashed garb they insist on dishing up; give it a rest: or go out and produce something different! In a short while, hopefully, a new and more vibrant set of posters may emerge and provide some refreshing stimulation for discussion which might hopefully inject more interest in this section. We can only dream! I'm not holding my breath.

I was actually agreeing with your comment; ya NOODLE! Bit over your head though, mate, isn't it? BTW, I have made many contributions to this section. And perhaps, more importantly, they were all varied!

I apologies Paul, yes, you the man. So I was foolish thinking I could match wits with you. So I will just go back to not responding to your posts. That way I will have a happy life without your notion of the universe.

Wile I am closing out with you, I've been active on here for a while and I can not recall seeing one of your photographs, not that I am saying you don't post photographs on the Hog, it just I an not recall a single image having been posted. But hay, I'm just saying, not questing your photographic ability, God Forbid. So, back to my Italian heritage on such subjects.
