We could really appreciate Harvey Earl's designs now more than ever. Just my opinion.

I think eventually it was Harley Earl's love of chrome that did him in. When the Virgil Exner "Forward Look" Chryslers hit the market, GM was instantly 3 years behind and the '58 Buicks and Oldsmobiles especially were the gaudiest in all of history. The '58 Impala had a lot going for it, but it too, was chrome-laden.

Earl will of course always be remembered for the Corvette and the Buick Y Job.

Never thought I'd see the day when Buick didn't make a car. All they make now are SUV's.

Very nice! I had a '54 Buick that I ended up selling for $40--with another $2 for the jack. Wish I had it now.

Makes me think of that beautiful Buick Convertible used in the movie "Rain Man"

When I was in Navy flight training in 1958 I traded my 53 Ford for a 56 Buick Super Rivera hardtop with a guy who washed out of flight training. It was a great car and I had it shipped to Newfoundland where I was assigned after getting my wings.

When I was in college I had a 1950 Buick which I bought from a neighbor for $125. It served me well through those years. I could drive at 60 mph on the highway and still hear the clock ticking. It was built like a tank and I think it weighed about the same.

Was it also dursty like a tank?
