Sorry to hear that. 17 is a good long life for a dog. I am sure you gave Carson a great life. Small ones tend to live longer. I'm fearing the end for my two 65 & 72 lbs Hounds, they are both around 12. They are family. Even though I'm a mere 69 and my wife 66, due to health issues these two will probably be our last.

Thank you so much. I'm so sorry to hear that your two are getting close. Carson will be my last also because ay 86, I'd be wondering what would become of one if I should go first.

I am so sorry for your loss. Our pets give us unconditional love no matter how bad a day they are having. It sounds like you sure had a great soul mate and your memories will be treasured forever. It is so hard to make the decision to take them out of pain, but just know they understand and thank you for doing it. Your little one knew you loved him and will dwell in your heart forever. My prayers are with you.

Thank you so much. It may break our hearts but we just cannot stand to see them hurting.

Sorry for the loss of your little fur baby. They always go too soon. I know it's crazy, but I like to think the Rainbow Bridge is what I'll find on the other side of this life. So many of my dear old pal's waiting there. It will be a tremendous reunion!

Thank you Tom. I feel the same way. If all my furry and feathered friends come to meet me there, I will be swarmed by dogs and birds.

What's left of this old heart is shattered.
I had to put my 2 pound, 17 year old Yorkie to sleep today. Give your pets an extra hug tonight. Can't say more because it's hard to see what I'm typing when my eyes are raining.

My condolences. My eyes are watering on your behalf.

I truly thank you. I've had dogs all my 86 years and have always hurt so badly when I lost them but this is the worst. It will be my last because I can't do this any more.

Thank you Mike. His name was Carson. Shortly after we got him, my divorced son came home to die of cancer. We were told he had about 3 months to live. Carson had never known him. Carson stayed in his lap the whole 4 DAYS my son lived after coming home. My son laughed and said, I have stolen mother's dog. After that, we started calling him Dr. Carson.

So sorry to hear about you son. I had a longer reply, but, there's noting that can be said to help with that great loss. 🙏🙏

Thank you Mike. They say time is the only thing that helps, but it takes a lonnnnng time to get even a little better. The fact that they are not suffering helps more than anything I think.

Them not suffering anymore is a huge thing. Many years from now, they will be there to greet you.

At the end, we suffer so they don't have to but it's worth it to know they won't. If all the dogs I have lost meet me there, I will be covered in dogs (horses, parrots, cats, chickens, ducks and geese.)

Yorkies...always insisting they're the big dog in the room. I know all too well how you feel. Dogs are unconditional love. I had to put my Dozer down back on Nov 9th, 2017 at 12:16, and it still hurts.

Dozer was a beauty! My little man never paid a bit of attention to other dogs, cats or my parrot. He wanted only to be where I was 24/7. He would go to my son and daughter-in-law but only for a few minutes and then wanted to get back to me in a hurry.

I'd have to think hard to count all my dogs. I got my first dog the day I was born. My grandfather raised Boston Terriers and gave me a puppy that was born the day before I was. From then on I had at least one dog every day of my life. Had a Blue Fronted Amazon and a Sun Conure, 2 Cockatiels that are waiting.

Ours were a Sun and a Jenday conure. We also lost Max (a mut), Hendrix (mixed Shepard) Bailey (Bichon Frise) and now we have Benji (a small mixed rescue)
