True, but they don't filter the exhaust fumes from the car in front of you, if you're using outdoor air.

How so? Filters' job is...wait for it... filtering.

Besides, most car and truck exhaust is quite clean, these days...

I'm really curious how these car coffee makers work. The problem I see is that the cigarette lighters are usually fused for 10 to 15 amps of power, which is not enough to make coffee in any short time. I tried several car coffee makers in my truck when I was a driver and when they didn't blow the fuse, it took 20 minutes for the coffee to finish (1 cup). on one occasion the plug in connector got so hot it melted. I admit, these were cheap truck stop makers so maybe there are better ones out now.

Wouldn't common sense say turn on the defroster and/or change to outside air if the windows start to fog?????
Until that time, IF it happens (a rarity), I'll continue to use recirculate in the winter until the cabin warms up, which will be faster. I don't think that putting on recirculate cuts off 100% of the outside air, the door is not that perfect of a seal. Ive never suffocated from excessive CO2.

How do they work? Poorly.

The MAX wattage one could get on a 20 amp fuse for the 12 plug will be 12v(x)20a = 240watts.
120watts if the maker only draws 10 amps.

Kitchen coffee makers use between 600 and 1200 watts, depending on the device.

I wish a car would have a built in coffee machine. I could have hot coffee on my way to work and hot chocolate when I’m tired and pull off to the shoulder and take a nap

If you are traveling on the interstate anywhere, check out some of the larger truck stops. Many of them have portable 12V coffee makers. Plus other 12V appliances. I've got a 12V refrigerator that I use weekly on my grocery shopping trips. (actual refrigerator with compressor - not thermoelectric)

When I set my temp to Max then the car automatically sets it to recirculate.

I lived in NC 98 - 2011. Never had a thought of refrigerating grocery items while transporting.

Plus you're not bringing all the extra dust and fumes into the car.

True, but you are re-breathing all your stale air. OK for a short time for rapid heating but not good if you forget to switch it back.

Jerry, take my advice and be sure to turn the fresh air on after eating at Taco Bell. I'm sharing an experience from a friend. 😁

Hmmm. I wonder how many people have suffered from CO2 over exposure and passed out.

When you want the most from your car's air conditioner, you set it to Recirculate. Wouldn't the same thing work with the car's heater? Instead of heating the 20° air from outside to 70°, the heater would be maintaining the 70° air inside the car. Of, course, you could switch it to Fresh Air occasionally.

That's what I do cuz that's what its there for.

Only problem with recirc in the winter is the windows will fog up. You exhaust a lot of moisture.

My first truck had a small swing door under the dash near each door of the truck. Just open them up...air...non filtered...regular air. Didn't help much in the summer...but I could blend my temperature pretty well in the winter time...heater and doors partially opened. I usually kept a quarter ounce taped up inside the passenger one...in case I broke down out in the middle of nowhere.

And one adjusts defrost/inside-outside air as needed.
I still put it on recirc to heat the cabin faster.
