I was commenting on the majority of people who posted on the thread, not the two who are now engaged in a mini war.
The reaction to anti-social behavior depends on if the other person agrees with the ideas in the anti-social statement. The majority of people, if they agree, then they ignore it or say something like "play nice". A minority of people if they disagree then they drop the Blitz and the D-Day Invasion on your head.
I recommended the RP (I own one and love it.) I also backed the recommendation of the 6D instead of the 6DII, used in Excellent condition, around $500 or so. An excellent older Full Frame to scratch that itch and a lot cheaper to allow saving the $$$$ for the R5 OP really wants even faster. I still have mine, the first DSLR I ever bought and in spite of people saying "Oh, it can't do that!" to many types of photography with a little work and some thinking I managed to do BIF etc. with it just fine. And as noted its low light performance still outdoes many much newer models.

I would do other wild animals if I still lived on a farm in Kentucky.
But I live in the western Riverside County part of the GREATER Los Angeles Metro Area!!! (You could drop aprx 25 Rhode Islands into the metro area.) The wildest it gets around here is stray dogs and cats, field mice, tree rats, squirrels, opossums, small garden lizards and the occasional raccoon. Well once years ago a lost coyote from the mountains a few miles away ran through the area totally freaked out. Animal control caught it, drove it back to the mountains and turned it loose. According to the news blurbs, as soon as the coyote saw home, and they opened the transport cage, it set some kind of land speed record for coyotes getting into the brush by the road.
I can do some bugs for you.

Getting back to the original post and as a 6D owner I took a look at the R8... Very impressive and at a great price point. If one really wants to move forward with mirrorless it might be the way to go... As always, tough decisions.

We all have our favorites. If you have a brand and can use the lenses try to go that way. Since this is a big investment decision you should go to a store (not on line) and handle different cameras to find one the is comfortable in your hands. In my case I have Canons. and have gone from the 5D series to the R5. That seemed to me every thing I wanted or needed. They are not a cheep camera but not the top of the line. Yes they are a pro camera and give me a sturdy great camera. BUT, other brands make great cameras. GO TO A STORE!

Have a 5Ds and R5. Like mirrorless for go to camera SLR still is excellent. Mirrorless is the way to go when you are ready for new camera. SLR’s will always be excellent cameras in the hands of a skilled photographer.

Maybe rent both and decide what works for your style of photography and budget. Then go online and read a few actual professional reviews of both, where advice is not a product of: “I bought it, so it has to be the best available.” Just sayin…. Cheers!
