No its not. I get receipts for everything I buy so that later at home I can put what I spent in Quicken and I can compare what Quicken says I have to my bank statement. That way you don't forget about checks that aren't cleared at the bank so that you don't have as much money as your bank says you have. The bank doesn't know about checks that haven't cleared yet.

A tip: If you have the option of having a receipt emailed to you, take it. That's what I'm using to return this today. Obviously, remove the cap from the can before you pay for it.

I do the same thing. My cards send me an email every time they are charged, so that helps. Stewart's doesn't give a receipt unless the customer requests one. I never do. Two ice creams cost $7.98, and ice cream and milk costs $11.97.
