Yessir of course there is big stuff. Hence the expression, Don't sweat the SMALL stuff.

I am done. I am sure if you think about this you won't be offended by a small comment having nothing to do with what you mentioned.

The point may be to not let it consume one.

In my experience, if you don't get the small stuff right, the big stuff never happens! It's like practicing a musical instrument. Daily practice is small stuff, but if you don't perfect your techniques and the fine motor movements needed to play with finesse, you'll never get to that big concert level performance.

Compare this basement performance by three kids:

https://youtu.be/1boUYB9LFJY?si=FNNcW09IMWQ0iTJ7 (remarkable in its own right — it launched a rock band when they were ages 9, 11, and 13!)

With this: https://youtu.be/9tKQgesCcTc?si=QVtLTQSmHfPuBmnS (the song rearranged completely for a "cover album" commissioned by Metallica, the original authors)

OR with this live version from 08/29/2022: https://youtu.be/vg9vNE7gm0I?si=XoZCbBRVy3FHzW3_

(The other 21 songs from that same concert are also amazing — and original. They were ages 17, 20, and 22 there.)

BTW — English is their second language, spoken and written since grammar school.

Swanda reacted to a statement by Longshadow: "I don't sweat the small stuff,
remembering that it's all small stuff."

That expression comes from a book: https://www.amazon.com/Dont-Sweat-Small-Stuff-Its/dp/0786881852/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?adgrpid=55500944829&hvadid=580770509952&hvdev=m&hvlocphy=9012557&hvnetw=g&hvqmt=e&hvrand=1170113773836564043&hvtargid=kwd-315655343442&hydadcr=15120_13523052&keywords=don%27t+sweat+the+small+stuff+book&qid=1703532074&sr=8-1

I agree with Swanda. It's a poor expression to use when taken out of context.

Yup, when taken out of context......
(Or misinterpretation.)

First I've heard about the book, or a reference to it. I didn't know that.

Their tag line:"...Simple Ways to Keep the Little Things from Taking Over Your Life. ..."
Kinda like what I suggested earlier, don't let it consume you.

Not intended to mean that the large stuff is not important. There IS a difference.

Thank you for your comment. I think the key words here are, "taken out of context". The discussion was ONLY about small stuff.

With respect, shouldn't the line read, IF you get the small stuff right, the big stuff never happens?

No, not really. But there are multiple statements that may fit multiple situations, which all sort of seem to say the same thing.

I'll take credit for the "Birds" section, as I lobbied with Admin for that a few years ago since the Main section was overrun by Bird pictures.

Next section I'd like to see removed from Main is "Flowers" or "Plants" or "Horticulture"...anything to remove all those from Main and put them separate. Presently all those overrun the Main.

Admin, are you listening?

Did you ever think that people post flowers there because it's a popular category...what you might think should go there might not suit other members...we can then lobby to get your favourites removed to another new section.
I enjoy looking at the Photo Gallery because it has a wide variety of subjects, it's called photography...I, along with many others, was quite miffed when they removed birds from that section...

Subscribe to Photo Gallery and Birds (and others) and you'll get both in your feed.
All the categories I subscribe to are in my feed, which seems like one list for everything. No need to category hop.
You're not switching categories, are you? Aren't they all in your feed?

One possible reason may be a shrinking membership.

I was looking at Amazon reviews of a cheap Chinese 400-800 non AF "pre-set" zoom that uses T-mounts [like Spiratone and others did in the 60's].

These younger photographers were totally flabbergasted that there was NOTHING done automatically for them.

Perhaps they could stop over here for some pointers.

When you see photos in the wrong section, do you click on "Report Issue" and then select or type "Wrong Section"?

That's how things eventually get fixed.
