Saw this in a hardware store yesterday. It's obviously a piece of precision equipment that was popular in the early 20th century in a major segment of our economy.
There are 8 separate devices here and for a size reference, the largest is about 6-7 inches in diameter. The white cord is not part of it.

Reuss, looks like it could have been used for facing / dressing seats on old flanged gate valves. Different sized dies for different diameter pipes....steam pipes, maybe, or not, maybe just water pipes.

Because it's Christmas and I'm in a giving mood, I'll pass on another clue. I found this in a hardware store in Amish country in north central Ohio. It was a display, not for sale and had a sign that said "What is this?"
