Our son worked for Prime for a while.
He drove on of their step-van's.
He was out as late as 10pm making deliveries.
They also sent him down streets so narrow he couldn't turn the truck around.
He also had to block traffic on some of those roads because they were so narrow.
He did it for a week or so, then said this is ridiculous and quit.

Roads shouldn't be that narrow.

Quitting is often the best choice.

Aussie billionaire made his money like that. From Wikipedia:
Anthony Joseph Pratt (born 11 April 1960), an Australian businessman and billionaire, is the executive chairman of Visy Industries (Pratt Industries USA in the US), the world's largest privately owned packaging and paper company

I applaud anyone who works to provide for themselves and their family so when I see the delivery people working late, they deserve a thumbs-up.

What irks me about all of them is that they refuse to ring the doorbell when making a delivery. This morning I picked up a soaking wet box on the stoop where they dumped it. Last week I caught an Amazon delivery man walking away from the door and asked him why he couldn't ring. He said, "Well, I took a photo of the package I left showing that it was delivered". I replied, "And who will be to blame if a thief walks by and picks it up before I find it?" He didn't have an answer to that!

Well, that's iffy. When my wife was sick, she might be asleep in a chair, and when he rang the bell, the dog would start barking and wake her up. UPS sends an email when delivery is made. Many people aren't home when delivery is made, so ringing the bell does nothing but get the dogs barking.

Their job is get packages from the UPS building to the customer as fast as possible. Now that they have to take a picture of the package, that slows them down. I understand your concern about the wet package, but weather and thieves are beyond their control.

Those ups drivers are so tight with time that when they came out with keyless ignition and remote door opener it would save them 6 seconds a stop

They also have a number of steps in their programs which really economize and speed up deliveries. One, for instance, is the minimum number of left turns on routes. I've watched the tracking programs, and you can see that routes are planned to maximize right turns.

You're not allowed to say "Gypsy" anymore. They're trying to come up with a new title for "Gypsy Rose Lee." 😂
