SECRETARY GENERAL STOLTENBERG: Thank you so much, Mr. President (Trump). It’s good to see you again, and I’m looking forward to celebrate the 70th anniversary of our alliance together with all the other leaders, today and tomorrow.

We are making real progress, most importantly on the burden sharing. And your leadership on defense spending is having a real impact. Since 2016, Canada and European allies have added $130 billion more to the defense budgets, and this number will increase to 400 billion U.S. dollars by 2024.

This is unprecedented. This is making NATO stronger. And it shows that this Alliance is adapting, responding when the world is changing.

We will, of course, also address a wide range of other issues, including the fight against terrorism, arms control, our relationship with Russia, the rise of China. And NATO is the most successful alliance in history because we have been able to change when the world is changing. That’s exactly what we are doing again. And the fact is that we are doing more together in this Alliance now than we have done for many decades.

So, once again, thank you for your leadership and your strong commitment to NATO.

What did you expect in a public statement? Even Republicans lie about their feelings about Trump while diminishing him in private.

He's a Republican and his lips were moving.
Ergo, he was lying.

Hey, Rac, even KJU lied about Trump when he wrote him "love letters." And you can bet Putin, Xi and KJU all have the same opinion of Trump... "Yes, put (the idiot) back in as POTUS" (so that we can manipulate him by dangling false respect in front of him).

I see you like others have failed to prove that he was lying about Trump.

If I had the (mis)fortune of meeting Trump I would probably tell him I like him, I like his polices, and I would love to see him back in the White House.

Why would I do that (ie, lie)?

First, it's because it would be the polite thing to do (rather than telling him the truth of how I feel about him). And second, it's because I know how he gets off on (false) praise, and I love to see him gobble up crap. I find him entertaining as the buffoon that he is, and the last thing I would want is for him to become a decent human being; much rather he would just disappear.

I can't believe that there are people out there -- Trump supporters -- who believe Trump is respected by other world leaders. Feared (as in you never know what an unhinged person with power will do) maybe; but certainly not respected or admired.

What’s with all that personal opinion hogwash? That’s not what I’m asking. I’m asking you to prove that he was lying about Trump

Don't be silly. I have no proof that Stoltenberg and others were lying... just as you have no proof they were telling the truth.

What I am telling you is that -- IMHO -- the "world at large" does not like Trump. Also, IMHO, the world at large is wondering what is wrong with you folks who support Trump.

And my opinions are as valid as your opinion that you think Trump is great and good for the country.

Of course, if you want "facts" to back up opinions regarding Trump all you have to do is look at who lost the last presidential election and how the Republicans have been doing in the midterm elections.

That’s just stupid, I don’t have to prove anything he said was true, you have to prove that what he said was a lie. I didn’t even bother reading past your first paragraph because it’s nothing but BS nonsense I am sure.

Yes it is important if you really understood how NATO is funded. The $ 100 B is the total of the “ goals “ each NATO country set as their target to spend on their own defense budget. It was “owed” ( not owned as you said ) to no one. It was a goal and never a bill or rule .

Many NATO countries don't meet their obligations to NATO, Trump's criticisms of NATO were fully warranted. The legislation is probably correct in that any withdrawal from NATO should be considered by the legislature and not just the Executive and I am sure that there are other things that the office of the president can do to pressure NATO nations to meet their commitments.

Well, were the media not just a propaganda arm of the DNC maybe then people around the world would have a better understanding of US politics.

You suggest that there is something "wrong" with people who support Trump, as if they are defective. Shame on you and it just indicates that you yourself are lacking in the knowledge of just how poorly our government has preformed on domestic issues, and abroad as well for that matter.

When trump supporters keep pushing propaganda instead of thinking for themselves, or doing some basic research into what they've been led to believe by a cult leader, then they are likely "defective" for their lack of education and poor analytical skills.
