Matt Granger sells a very detailed setup guide for the Z8
Thanks, I'll check it out.
Since they don't take returns, guess you'll just have to sigh and live with it. You can just go to Staples if you need those office supplies right away, or re-order them from Amazon. (Who knows? They just might send you a Z180-600 zoom by mistake..: )

Or in a dark closet. Mine went from 1 to 3 and now they have propagated to 30. LOL Congrats to the OP! Let the G.A.S. begin for the new Z line lenses.
Steve Perry also has a great book out on the Z9/Z8 for birding along with some easy to watch videos.
Did the camera arrive via Prime Amazon driver or via U.S. Postal....If postal...law clearly says, if you didnt order it & can prove you didnt order it & shipper cant prove you ordered it...yours to keep
Enjoy your Z8 and any punishment for getting it ! In addition to Thom Hogan's guide, which I have and use for my Z9, check out the various e books from Steve Perry at Backcountry. I suggest his AF mirrorless secrets book and his Z9/Z8 guide. I have both of them.

A few days ago, I ordered from Amazon a few office supplies and to my surprise, a brand new Nikon Z8, which I've been thinking about for many months, arrived at my front door. Now, all of you know Amazon will take back almost anything for almost any reason except for new cameras. So, what is a person to do? The wifey not too impressed with my "story". Anyhow, any tips and tricks from you Nikon Z8 owners? I upgraded from the D850 and so far, just inputting settings. I also purchased the PDF manual from Thom Hogan.

I have purchased everything imaginable from Amazon over many years. I have even purchased camera lenses. When you place an order they send you usually with in a few minutes an email with summary of your order and what ever means of paying for it soon has a record of the transaction. You didn't notice that they were charging you an exorbitant for office supplies? You could have gone right back to your purchase page and cancelled the order as long as it had not yet been shipped. If by some means a mystery person at Amazon added the Camera to you order and you really had nothing to do with the camera, you should contest their return policy.
I never knew Amazon had a no return policy for new cameras, but I can understand why. I have never had a situation where Amazon did not make good on any problems with an order, including getting an unexpected freebie when complaining about a late arriving order.
Show the wife the great pictures the D850 can record. Then you can give it to her when you buy a top end Nikon Z camera.
I never have to sneak around about photography purchases. I know what we can afford and I am open and straight with her about it. I explain how I plan to use it. She usually approves. She had taken a Photography class in college back in 1978. And we do photography together since I own 4 DSLRs. Have fun with the D850!
Good story. I'll share one of mine. It was the Better Half's birthday so I gave her a new bowling ball. When she opened it, she said "The finger holes are way too big for me". I told her that I wanted it to be a surprise and I did not have her hand to have it fitted so I used mine. Then she said, "But the bowling ball also has your name engraved on it". I told her that I had my name put on it so she would always remember it was a gift from me. Then she said, "But I don't even bowl...!"
Well, I told her that I could not take it back now that it was drilled so I will just have to use it myself when I bowl with the guys. Do you have any idea how cold it is to sleep outside during the winter? 😁
I have no idea how long you have been married but you do know your spouse knows more about you than you do? And you know more about her… So if you carefully apply that knowledge you just might be allowed to live.

Yes, you can tell they're doing it by the zooming noises.

Amazon's AI is getting scary good. Now they no longer just advertise to your particular interests, they actually send you the product in hopes that you will pay up. I'm waiting for that pretty young lady to show up anytime now on my doorstep.
For some reason, some of those vendors of Nikon F lenses are able to know when the wife is out of town. Since they want to ship lenses to me only when she is not here.
Fortunately they blend in with the existing lenses and one more is not too noticable. I am finding it more difficult to place the boxes out of sight in the garage. Even though I put the new box underneath the existing ones, she asked me if I had been moving my lens boxes around because the one on top is up higher than it was before she left.
I had ordered a movie DVD last time, and she saw it on the shelf within half an hour after getting back from Thailand. She travels a lot, and being from Thailand she goes there about every other year.
