No problem. Your Nikon is then the camera you keep around just cuz you "like it" and thaz what the thread is all about.

Your "go to" (phone, SLR , drone, whatever) is of no consequence here.

Nope, the question was " A camera "that you just like". I think I answered that question perfectly.

The 43-86mm f/3.5 was quite popular back in the days but I didn't have one. Now I heard that some say it's the worst Nikon lens ever.

Let me respond to the original thread first, Nikon Df is my favorite for 10 years since 2013 and it still keeps me going!

Yes, I have this 43-86mm f3.5 Nikkor since 1972/1973 with my Nikon FTn and Nikkormat FTn SLRs, but it is a non-AI lens. It has a problem when shooting towards bright light sources such as Sun light, it creates ghosts in the image. It is a bit soft in the image. I modified it to AI to fit my DF. On that time I got it as my standard lens to my two Nikons instead getting a 50mm.

I love the mirrorless shooting process of my Sony, even if the menus and button placement are an embarrassment from a major photography leader. But, when the process needs to be taken seriously, I use my Canons.

That's why I tried out a Sony A7, used it for three days and returned it.

I still return to my Canon SX50 HS bridge camera occasionally. I took a great shot of the eclipse back in '17 with it. The zoom range is better than anything I have in my ILCs and is so much lighter than what would be required to get 1200mm (35 equiv) angle of view with them. It stands atop a tripod looking out at my back yard waiting for a good bird shot.

I like my SX50 HS as well, light and easy to handle and does what I ask of it. 1,000's of shots and has helped me make a good living.

I love everything about my Canon R6, except the cost of RF lenses.

Stepping away from comparing specs, is there a camera that you just like?

It could be ease of use, results, handling, fun to use or any of those and more. It may even be a camera that you return to even when, by some measures, it is obsolete.

My 2012 Pentax X-5 "Superzoom" 16 MP bridge camera is one. I was surprised they were still going for around $120 when most others from that time were $30.

Fast handling, easy control, but not much manual exposure options and a decent lens. It does have some visual highlight/shadow warnings that are handy in the less-than-perfect EVF. More than once I've returned to it, or rediscovered shots taken with it that I liked.

Thoughts?

The OP did not ask about what camera or brand is the best performing one you have used, but which camera (not by brand) you have liked using or liked the results, again not necessarily from a technical specs stand point. The UHH seems to be so gearhead abscessed.

So far reading the replies most UHH'ers seem to like their newest cameras. And are providing advertisements with their words since these models are for the most part still in production or readily available. Because I have so many cameras it is obvious it is not easy for me to pick one. It would be easy to talk about my least favorite.

Anyway, my camera that I always like returning to is also my first DSLR. That is my Pentax K-20D (14MP). It is simpler to use and gives me the color and exposure I want with the least ACR and Ps RAW processing work.

I just like my two Olympus cameras, M5 III and m1 III, for their size, feel, looks, image quality and internal stabilization. I feel liberated in comparison to my old Nikon gear.

My iphone is a camera that I just like.

It's easy to use, gives good results, small, very easy to handle, fun to use and is always with me when I see something interesting. It has almost all the control capabilities of a more traditional camera, less aperture control. But that's simulated in-camera or post using one of the many 3rd party apps. The results are more than acceptable for most of my shooting, i.e. photo books. When I need/want larger prints or other specific shots, I use one of my larger mirrorless. cameras.

Even though I have 3 FF cameras I prefer my Nikon D500 with 24-120mm lens, that is all I really need.

My all time favorite was a Rolleicord twin lens reflex camera (6 x6) I got as a present from my dad when I was a teenager. All settings were manual, even cocking the shutter. It took 120 film. I took both black and white and color slides with this camera.

Why my favorite? I had to think through all exposure settings. It taught me how to get it right in the camera. And the prints and slides were a joy to look at. And it was my first good camera.

I know I shouldn't be making this comment in this group but my go to camera these days is my IPhone 13 Pro Max. My IPhone is lightweight, and fun to use. The only other time I use my Nikon is when I get in the mood to shoot startrails.

Cool visual!
