At this point, no computer can use it.
Although my printers say they can work on a network, I have them all connected by cable. I don't want to go through the trouble of trying to get them to work wirelessly and then figuring out why they don't work.

I connected it to my laptop, and it works fine. I'm going to re-install it on this Dell desktop.

I've never had a Brother printer but my ancient Canon laser printer has been chugging along with no problems, and it (along with most of my other devices) have been plugged into a UPS for years.

Victory! After I got it working on the laptop, I reinstalled the software on the Dell, and it works fine. I'd love to know what the problem was, but that will remain a mystery.

Uninterruptable Power Supply - essential for electronics. If power goes out, this box will keep it running so you can shut it down normally. APC is a good brand.

I have had two Brother Laser printers. They have both been very reliable. I have found Brother's phone support to be excellent. I would recommend you call them. No long waits on the phone; no speaking to someone whose English is difficult to understand, and successful on solving problems.
