Honey and bumble (or carpenter) bees, Oct. 2023. After the hummer(s) left, the bees had the Salvia flowers to themselves. Then they left too, the flowers are dead, and the plant is in the ground for winter.

Tried to zoom in closer - from the closest the lens would focus - and also cropped more aggressively. Comments and critiques welcome.

Nothing to critique -- they are excellent!

Good work on the pics.
I wonder if the blooms present much in the way of pollen or nectar for the visitors late in the season that way.

Thank you, Dustie, for the feedback. Based on the regularity with which the few remaining honey and bumble bees kept returning to the planter over many days, I would say that there was nectar. A flower could not fool these critters again and again, but that is my non-expert opinion only.

Sharp, good detail and color. The only one that I might criticize is the one with the twig cutting right across the body.

Well done.

Thank you, Jeff. I was in two minds about including that one. Eventually I kept it since the frontal and underside view made it different from the others.
