The electoral college was set up to protect white male property owners.Women, Blacks,Jews Catholics, and others were not given the right to vote. The founding fathers were scared of non property owners, Only about 1 1/2% of the people were allowed join the first election for President. Nota real full democracy .

Since after the Civil War America, mainly Republicans as Democrats were still in there RACIST stage, have bent over backwards in order to help blacks achieve a proper and equal place in America. We have spent untold Billions/Trillions trying to come up with ways to get them to want to be educated and then work hard to achieve their rightful place. Martin Luther King, a great man gave his life in that attempt to make people see not just skin color but what was within a person.

But take a look at the Democratic Party NOW. Biden's own Vice President, notably the very dumbest woman on the entire planet was chosen ONLY because she is black and because she is a woman. Other more qualified candidates might have been chosen who were much smarter and great statesmen/women but they could not have matched Harris' prime qualifications for election purposes, black and female. Biden's cabinet is the same. Nobody was chosen for their political savvy, their experience with handling emergencies, their knowledge of dealing with people of all types. Nope, they were chosen because of their sexual orientation, the Freakier and Geekier the better.

Changing the electoral college vote to a popular vote will take a Constitutional Amendment, which is not likely to happen since it would require the approval of those smaller states that would be affected. Much ado about nothing.
