Not me, called them yesterday on an issue and paid nothing. 1-800-645-6687

This is almost as much fun as a thread whining about B&H or any other vendor! Definitely the same format and many typical resposes.

How many more pages?? Gotta love it!

I don't care how many pages. I only care what the OP responses. So far the OP only told us that the question was about how to lock the focus point. I really want to know about the situation. I do not think Nikon should charge for asking question. (yes I have used many products where one has to pay a yearly subscription to get questions answered, even though you paid a high price when you bough the product) but it's not like Nikon nor any camera manufacturers I know. I wonder what Nikon told the OP exactly.
The UHH server has lots of storage space it can go on to a million pages if I care.

Words like "I spoke to Nikon" "...give Nikon a try" or "and I have been informed" are VERY VAGUE.
Did the OP call Nikon or did he type the question into GOOGLE and maybe tried there.

I don't know about "Justananswer.com" but I do know this .... You are not talking to "NIKON" and you most likely will have to pay for the answer.

I recently purchased the Z8 after using a D7200 for years. One of the first things I did was set up the Z8 for BBF. I too have had issues with accidentally moving the focus point by touching the toggle and I miss the lock lever also. I haven’t found a way to lock the focus point but you may want to think about changing the function of the toggle switch itself or disabling it if possible. It doesn’t happen to me very frequently so I just live with it and curse under my breath when it happens rather than seeking a solution. Hope this helps.

Just to let everyone know that I am smart enough to ask here I have already ask in the past and nobody had the answer so I thought I would give Nikon a try. I have ask here and done a lot of research with no results but I will ask again for those that think I wasn't smart enough to ask here first.

I have a Nikon Z6ii and as far as I can determine there is no way to lock the location of the focus point and I find it very annoying and causing me problems. Before I start getting the same answers that I got last time, I know that I can press the toggle button down and make the focus point go back to the center. I shouldn't have to do that constantly every time I pick up my camera. I use back button focus on all of my cameras and the toggle button is right under th BBF button and it gets pressed every time I pick up my camera and place my thumb on the BBF button which in turn touches the toggle button and it moves my focus point. Last time when I ask here I got all kind of remarks about it not bothering other members or how to double press the toggle to get the focus point back to center. If you have this camera and it doesn't bother you I am happy for you but it is annoying to me. I am not an English scholar so please do not take the time to make remarks about how I wrote or punctuated my post. If you do have helpful information I would very much appreciate it. Thanks for taking the time to read this and respond.

I can lock my focus on any of my DSLR nikons with a lever on the back of the camera. It seems to me this could be fixed with a software update.

Yeah, I have the same problem with my Sony's. Wish they had a lock like the one on my Nikon D850. I understand your pain. But as I have said, did you try 1-800-645-6687

Yea thats right but still the fact that the way it is written that Nikon is wanting to charge a customer for something that he has already purchased. That is the point I think he was trying to make not so much the specific question.

What do you mean by charging for something already purchased? The camera was purchased but not necessarily after sales support at no cost forever.

When you contacted Nikon did they mention how to go about setting up paid support and what the name of that support program was? I did a little research this morning and could not find anything regarding a paid plan for user support other than the NPS program. Or did they indicate that you need to pay separately each time you called?

As a Nikon user myself, I would love to know under what circumstances they charge you and how much it costs. I'm guessing this must be something relatively new since I dealt with Nikon support just six months ago when a firmware update was taking an extremely long time to complete and I had no issues getting free assistance with that problem for a camera that was outside the warranty period.

Never... being kind is right. Unfortunately, there are too many UHH members that never grew up to realize that or are just products of bad parenting. If you disagree, just leave it alone.

ALWAYS BE KIND.

Surely you realize being truthful is often far more important than being kind. The truth might hurt for a while but when you continue with a lie to be kind it doesn't do much good does it? I would rather hear the truth than live in a namby pamby world where the Barbie types are always kind. Maybe it is time to toughen up and start posting, BE HONEST.

I can answer your question. You cannot lock the focus point on your camera. And it cannot be corrected with a firmware update. Too bad Nikon cannot put a lock switch on the focus point like on the earlier Nikon DSLR's.
PS. I do not believe Nikon will charge you for advice. You may not have called Nikon, there direct number is 1-800-645-6687. I called them just yesterday and did not pay.
Nikon will be happy to answer your questions, please no more neg. unfounded info on Nikon help please. Call them.

Exactly what I was wondering, was the person you were talking to a scammer? I use an USDA computer and we have to take regular courses-quizzes on computer security. Ends up a lot of these Indian scammers are legitimate tech support people on their regular job but are scamming on there off time. I’m sure someone smarter than me could make legitimate tech calls transfer to their private phone or computer, where the scamming begins. I agree, try calling again.

I agree! Did you call the Support number in your Manual? Or try a chat with a rep at Nikon. com? I think you should try again..
I must add that I am so disappointed at the nastiness of some of the UGGers. Personal insults do not belong here! Good luck solving your problem!

I didn't have problem with them either. I bought a used Nikon F3HP back in 2006 or so. The camera came with the motor drive but the drive was missing the caps that cover the external power and remote control ports. I called Nikon asking where I could buy them they asked me for my address and sent me the caps free.
