So bad that it is incomprehensible! I worked summers at a US Post Office while I went to college. The highest "honor" I received while working there over 3 years, was to be allowed to deliver the registered mail one time. It was considered the most important mail and one speedily delivered letters that were sent by registered mail. So when I decided to mail a substantial check to a travel agent in Canada, I decided to send it registered mail with the USPS. This letter was going from San Francisco to Toronto, Canada. It was mailed on Oct. 12, at 10:15am (it is tracked) and I paid $21 for postage. Where is it now, almost 3 weeks later? In Los Angeles!! Anyone have a guess on when it might arrive at its location in Toronto, Canada?
Bottom line, if you want something to get to its destination, do not use the US Postal Service!

Don't worry it will eventually get to Toronto. But now I know why they have financial problem. Although they charged you $21 which was pretty high they obviously spent a lot of time, labor and transportation cost to make your mail go in the wrong direction.
I one time sent a package via flat rate priority mail from Sachse TX which is North of Texas to Kerrville TX which is South of Texas. The package was sent to Los Angleles before it goes back to Kerrville TX.

Exactly! It will be interesting to see how many more stops it makes. Guess one is paying per day for their handling of the letter.
Not a bad track record for handling billions of pieces each month.
To more customers than anyone else.

I have no complaints with the USPS, mail has been slow on occasion I write that off to they move a LOT of mail, somethings get caught in the machine. When I was overseas, stationed in Germany, the mail was never a problem, I shipped a case of beer from San Francisco and it was waiting for me when I arrived. Yeah, long story sending beer to the beer capital, some guys were homesick for beer they couldn’t get so for a month or so I was a hero! Picture 3-5 guys sharing a 12 ounce can of Coors! We poured it into cups to keep everyone honest.

Only FedEx and UPS have ever lost packages for me.
Well this is by far the worst experience I have had with Fed Ex, UPS or the US Mail. Ironically it is a letter sent registered mail, which is supposed to get the best service (and costs the most). Not sure why it sat for 2 weeks in the San Francisco airport post office before being put on a plane going the wrong way.

Stuff happens.
In this instance it was to you.
I am not really complaining about USPS service. It's ok for the shipment to be late from time to time but I keep wondering if the problem they have with their financial doesn't have anything to do with the fact that several times they sent my package going around and around back and forth.

Or the attitude or mentality (philosophy, not intelligence) of some of the workers.

Does the U.S.P.S. have to take all the crap the private companies don't want. The 'expensive' last mile like our Royal Mail has to? Several alternative outfits here to collect mail (only from bulk users - basically companies), ship it around a few warehouses, but when it gets to my door it's always the R.M. postie that pushes it through the letterbox.
Just my opinion, and some U.S. side might see it as 'socialist', but I think certain services should be a Government funded nationwide service.

Bulk mail is doing well here seems like they never lose any of mine 😥
In all my years( Im 84) of using The USPS I have only had one parcel and one letter that did not reach its destination, ironically it was an insured parcel, when I filed the claim they demanded proof of the value, since all I had to do was burn another CD, I did so mailed it without insurance and it arrived two days later , a distance of 100 miles.
I hear you. I recently send an important document registered mail(return receipt requested) so that someone would have to sign for it thus giving me proof that I sent it. Well, the receipt did come back to me, but with no ones signature on it!A waste of almost $20.
