It's run by the Govt...what do you expect?

One has to be mildly retarded to wish for bigger govt.

Two parcels I sent to Nevada from Central Texas got lost somewhere in California. Sending packages from Texas to Nevada by way of California is an indication (to me) of a certain lack of focus. Doing so and losing them from there is suggestive (to me) of a certain lack of competence. Losing the contents but returning the wrappers to the sender with the return addresses intact and adding a letter stating that they would not have gotten lost if an address label had been placed inside is evidence of complete ignorance of the process involved. If that experience is representative of "the best postal system in the world" I missed it. Granted, it used to be so for many years.

60 years ago, we experienced delivery problems with the post office.
Nothing new.

This is an obvious mistake due to an inexperienced clerk or the sender's misinterpretation of services. Registered mail is never, repeat, never a quick service. It is totally secure, numbered, insured and kept under lock and key. It is passed on to the next responsible person when that person signs for it and takes total accountability for the safety and security of the piece. This method has been used forever to transport high value items, such as gold, silver, diamonds, etc. If there is a need for speed, then Express mail is a guaranteed delivery time service, usually one or two days. It is also quite secure, being numbered and insured, but it never sits behind locked in a safe. Priority mail can also be much quicker, although not a guaranteed service time, it typically takes 3 to 6 days in my experience. The postal service is the brunt of many jokes plus obviously human error does occur and sadly the occasional "bad apple" shirks duty or even steals. In this case, the service expected was not matched with what was paid for. Better communication between parties would have prevented this dissatisfaction. Enough said.

Heh...no.

Unless you ignore the math...

If you ran your household like the govt...you'd be out on the street...or prison.

I was speaking of my interactions. I just watched 60 minutes and realize there are many people who have had problems.

Paying into SS is the worst investment you can make...and the govt. is still in the hole in an appalling way.

I opted out decades ago (there are ways)...took the very same coin and invested in solid stocks...
I outperformed SS by a factor of 8...same money...safe stocks.

The govt. is good at only one thing only...creating debt.

A quick update. The recipient still has not received the letter. When I mailed it from our central post office I was told it would take not more than 2 weeks. It sat in the San Francisco office for 16 days before being put on a plane to LA. Not sure why it wold take so long.
