Good shot - but I would think almost any editor could easily replicate that picture?
I use RawTherapee and Gimp for most of my processing. RawTherapee has a lot of great tools and can save to most photo formats. Gimp doesn’t support raw formats so if there’s something I can’t do In RawTherapee I convert to tiff or png then open it in gimp. I understand that RawTherapee is close to Lightroom.
Try Fastone and/or Irfanview. Both allow you to do simple edits with lighting, contrast and hue and are free to download for any windows computer.

I have used Affinity since it first came out. Works for me.

Hi Everyone ,
Ive been using CS5 for a long time now with very good results .
Though I do ahve to convert Nef raw to DNG to use it with raw ..
I now have a new laptop with Win 10 ..
I need editing software but photoshop is pay monthly now so dont want that .
Is there a free software that is as good as CS5 ?
some say Gimp is good but not sure if it does raw .
I dont do much editing of images , just crop , maybe ad contrast etc .
I dont swap heads .

Try Photopea.com. It's a web based editor that is very similar to Photoshop. Completely free.

We spend thousands of dollars for cameras and lenses and then we nickel and dime for processing software. Doesn’t make sense to me.

Nickels and Dimes? Yeah Nickels and Dimes alright but a subcription to PS CC would take 1200 nickels and 600 dimes a year.

Affinity photo is not free but can be bought very cheap less than fifty dollars. Free updates for at least a year.

And how many nickels/dimes did you spend on your camera?

let see. Let use dollars for easier. I actually spent $120 a year on PS CC subscription although I don't use it much. For the past 10 years I paid total $1200. For the past 10 years since I switched to digital I only bought the Nikon Df body which is $2730. So the cost of software while not the same as as camera it's significant.

The real comparison is what the software does for you, more important than the cost. As I age, my memory gets weaker so I find LR makes it possible to find the images I took. And I enjoy being able to improve my images with LR/PS. I’m sure there is other software out there that would do the job but I’ve been using LR/PS for almost two decades and it’s getting to be a chore learning new things so I stick with what works for me. $10.61/month is affordable for me. And it’s cheap exercise for my OCD.

The fact is I use only half of the software. I never use LR. I do not like the cataloging function. To be honest if I have less money and if I can only afford say a $1500 camera I wouldn't use PS. So blaming the OP for nickels and dimes about the software isn't fair.

I can’t complain about someone else not having the same level of OCD that I enjoy.
Darktable is a Lightroom wanna-be, and is pretty good. I use Elements, which has a lot of photoshop functions.
I understand that the new edition even has a bit of AJ.
I think that it is worth the money.

gimp works with RAW. It takes quite a while to learn gimp, just like time spent learning PS
The good news its very powerful and constantly updated.
