education which includes Ps or LR.... Thats how I got my basics.

I have found fantastic courses, really inexpensive during their sales, which they have often, at Udemy.com. I've really enjoyed their classes, the extra material they give you, and the instructors. The other thing is you attend, or take the class segments, at your leisure, there is no time limit or deadline, except what is self imposed. Give it a try, the price is right, and they have many photographic classes!

All great instructors but you might want to rethink that no college as many city colleges offer classes on both at a reasonable price like zero and online. Santa Barbara City College does through its college of extended learning (what was adult Ed). They are taught by two extremely qualified instructors both of whom taught at Brooks Institute which when Ernie Brooks ran it was one of the top photography schools in the world. You may have similar classes you can attend.

I cling to the notion that Lightroom (Classic now) was originally intended to add the database called Library to Photoshop hence the original name Photoshop Classic. But then, I believe, they added the raw processing and then the popularity to LrC took off with a much better human interface. However, Adobe couldn’t (and maybe shouldn’t) resist the enormous mobile device market. And the rest is history.

(Rant) Alas Adobe Marketing was inept at choosing names. Lightroom itself had a meaning in the photo publication world although it never made the dictionary. The biggest misstep was using the name Import for the act of adding data (photos) to the Catalog (database) even though it is correct in the database design world. Import does NOT move your files from the camera into LrC requiring Export to use them elsewhere. What it actually does is collect data and creates a catalog entry for each image. There is no, nada or zip copy of the file only the path to the file. So it wouldn’t hurt to understand the basics of the catalog operation. Some people say the don’t use databases. So how do they navigate the computer without using Finder/Explorer? (End of Rant)

Returning to the original post I suggest starting with LrC because although ARC is the same software in both it is a managed easier in LrC. Some other essential edits, notably removal of distracting objects, are easily performed with Ps. Also Ps adds operations that have nothing to do with images which adds to the bewildering complexity of Ps.
