Dead "new" batteries are possible. They can sit in the store for a long time.

By the hundreds of posts where it is patently obvious that the current poster has not bothered to read what has gone before. You can tell this by the content/style of the current post. As to the comprehension part that is also patently obvious by the content/style of the current poster. The mere fact that you ask me this question suggests that you might be an offender - no offense intended here but as we get older sometimes things slip by us and even I have noticed, the odd time, that I have slipped up although, in my case, it is because I don't have a US background so miss things that might be the norm for you. Even this might be a sign of how these things can happen. UHH members come from all parts of the world so replies/comments etc should keep this in mind.

Yes, that is quite obvious. I was simply referencing your categorical, "Nobody".
Cheers,

Got me. I didn't notice that you had bolded the nobody. I should have added 'almost' in front of the nobody.

Just read a post on a CR-V site. The guy had the same problem. He found that if he cleaned the contacts in the battery compartment of the fob, he used a "Mr. Clean Magic Eraser", that solved his problem. In similar situations in the past I've use a pencil eraser to clean contacts.

Don't cost anything and it might work.

You could also use DeOxit but NEVER use this on a camera.

I had a key fob stop working. Dealer service department had to reset / reprogram it.

I'm hoping some of you tech types might be able to help me. One of the remote keys for my 2022 Honda CR-V just stopped working a couple of days ago. I've replaced the battery with a new one, but it still doesn't work. It hasn't been dropped or immersed, and is seldom used. The local dealer's parts department tells me that these keys "don't just lose programming." Three local locksmiths have no other ideas than replacing the key. I'm still hoping to avoid that. Any ideas? TIA!

Did you install the replacement battery correctly?
