Because of social media today, the youth have more power in their hands than they've ever had!!

Power for what? Video games and exercising their thumbs. God forbid their power supply fails and or there are no more batteries or that nobody " friends or likes " them.

Youth is not restored by the return of the old Digest format.

As stated already many times, the forum has not changed. Only the Digest was changed.

And that makes sense to you?

Trading a short list of posts on selected Topics (that you have not read previously) for an unlimited number (many pages) of post from all Topics is desirable? And worse, does having to search for those posts which are listed periodically as "New" in very faded letters have some special attraction for you?

BTW, going to "Home" is only somewhat better in that you can select the specific Topic but still have to struggle through the tiresome search for the interspersed faded out "(New)" alert. Albeit a shortened list but must be repeated for each Topic.

None of that makes sense to me... please enlighten me.

The digest doesn't make sense to me. It appears that everyone has their own way of interacting with UHH.

My way goes to the home page. There I see all the sections I have subscribed to. I can click on 'watched topics' which shows me threads I'm interested in. I can peruse all the threads in any of the sections (the ones in the first page or two usually contain all the threads I haven't seen yet in a section that I'm interested in). That's what works for me. It's not the only way.

The digest does not contain all the threads in the sections you subscribe to, only the ones that have a lot of traffic. So depending on the section, using only the digest you may miss something interesting to you.

You can start with newest topics. You can start with any section. You can start with watched topics. You can start with active topics. Whatever works for you. The digest is one method. It doesn't show you everything, only the topics selected by some algorithm.

I am at a loss to explain why so many are so turned off by a relatively minor change in one method when so many other methods are available. I am old, and change can be annoying, but it is rarely something that forces me to quit something altogether. There are different ways to get to the same result. Experiment with them and find one that is less annoying.

It is always good to be in danger of learning something new.

In fact people who use the digest missed all the threads complaining about the new digest.

So THAT's why there were so many different threads!

Most likely.
They don't know the other threads exist.

The digest is just a small snapshot of what is here on UHH.

I wondered when someone was going to point that out 🤣 🤣

Jerry and bcheary dominate chit-chat with their numbers of daily topics, leaving little room for any existential angst from others.

Okay, I go to "Home" then "Watched Topics (28)" and I get This thread and then one each from 2/27/23, 12/25/22, 11/15/22, 7/14/22 and so on. Not very useful.

If I go to "Newest Topics (333)," I am again overwhelmed searching for the faded out "(New)" announcements.

How is this better than the original format?

Don't get me wrong. I am coping with the new system quite well. I just don't see what was improved or why it was made more difficult.

This is beyond sad. The OP says he has been enjoying UHH for a decade (though has commented only 70 times per year during his official membership), yet he is unwilling to spend a single day trying out the alternatives that many of us have suggested over the past four days in the forty-five topics on the subject of the digest format change.

I hate to say this, but some people simply like to bitch
