I have a 6D Mk II - I don't consider it old. It's my main camera and serves me very well. I guess you have to decide how much money you'd like to spend before making a final decision.

No that camera is still great and takes amazing shots. I don't consider it old. I know it is the last of the DSLR Canon made but still very reliable and it maybe 4th on my list but it honestly is a high bench mark of a camera for me as well.

I appreciate it. I am leaning towards the Canon R6 Mark II and found a few good deals with the 24 - 105 L lens which would be a great starting kit to build onto. I agree the IBIS is a very must have especially when I am wired with coffee. One question is where is a good place to sell old equipment in your opinion?

I sold most of the equipment on Ebay, some at a local camera shop and some on B&H with trade ins for RF lenses. Bought the R6 right here on UHH from a felow Jogger, and the R10 on Ebay with a 18-45, selling the lens later on Ebay.

Not to add confusion to this mix, but... if you are thinking of selling/getting rid of all your lenses, why not explore other camera types. If you are interested in mirrorless, there are a ton of them out there. Starting over is expensive, but it sounds like you are serious about trying photography again.

I understand loyalty to a brand. I would never get rid of my cameras and lenses. Give this some thought, find a camera shop that you can visit and try the cameras that might tickle your fancy. Good luck. I love getting new camera equipment!

No confusion good input. This will sound strange but it's not so much of a loyalty thing for me in the brand it was the experience I had with my first camera which sits on my shelf and it was and still is a Canon Powershot S2 IS and that little 5mp camera was amazing and honestly I still look at photos I took with it and I am still impressed with how well they look. I pushed that button so many times that I am shocked the button didn't fall off. The colors it produced for me were as close to true to life that I had ever seen and because of that camera it's kinda what put me toward Canon.

Now I have tried other brands t me second best is Nikon but I hated how saturated the images looked or felt but that has probably changed over the years but the sharpness of the images looked amazing and I at one time owned one of their point and shoot cameras but honestly can't remember the name of it but I also used it very little and ended up giving it to a family member.

Sony I had got on two separate occasions top of the line point and shoot cameras and had the worst experiences with them. The first one failed three times and I was spending more gas to get it exchanged then to use it the second one I remember it more I used it for a month and the colors were just washed out and after a month it would turn itself on and when trying to take photos with it it would just shut down and act like you never owned it and had to enter date, time, locations all over again and I sent it in for repairs as I bought the warranty but that part was not covered which put me at a loss. That was the Sony RX 100 IV Cybershot.

I got to use older FUJI cameras from friends but the noise in the images were just so noticeable now I don't know much about the new models but I am sure they have gotten better but just never really went for one.

So for me it's been about the experiences I have had with the cameras and why I stayed with the one that knock on wood I have never had an issue with or bad experience.

My closest camera shop is about two hour drive used to have on close by but with online orders and home shopping convenience they went out of business sadly.

Take a look at what Steve Perry has to say about the 90D!!! He LOVES it! FWIW.

If you are a wildlife shooter - like me - you must take a long considerable look at the 90d ! and the OVF for following action.

I had been planning on buying an R6, but by the time I got the money together, the R6 Mk II just came out. I am SO glad I bought it, and I love it. It improved on all the things the original R6 needed, and is a great value for the money.

The video issue of overheating was fixed, the higher but not too high resolution (quality vs. storage size) and incredible low light capability far surpass the older Canon I had. The lightning fast focus and image stabilization has made possible a LOT of photos that were never possible before. I don't think you can go wrong with the R6 Mk II.

You will find this funny but I have never signed up to have an Ebay account. I hear a lot of good things about it but just one site I have never went to buy anything. I have friends who sell all the time through there and make good money from it. It's like Facebook I never went for it even though everyone I know has it but I am the odd ball out. lol

I may have to talk to my friends about selling on ebay. Thank you for the feed back.

I am one of those! And, as I said, if I wasn't a happy Nikon guy, I would be looking for a 90D as we speak!
And would probably be disappointed, as I know nothing about Canon cameras! And then I would probably have to send Steve Perry a nasty letter!

Get auto-generated quotes from MPB and KEH. They'll at least give you a ceiling for possible sales prices for each lens / camera. I use KEH as the buyer of last resort. They receive, evaluate / confirm, and pay, probably faster than you'll get via any other method. As you're not offering a return, consider pricing your items at 75% to 80% of KEH, and include the shipping in your offer price. Use the prepaid USPS priority mail boxes for sending, if you go with private sales.

Don't change horses in mid stream!!
I don't do Facebook and never will. Or eBay!! I consider myself an oddball, and don't feel bad about it at all! I like my own company!!

Keep your perfect Canon lenses.
It is a brilliant way to go.
All your lenses will work 100% perfect on RF mount bodies and with the control ring adapter they will all aquire the same capabilities as the Canon RF lenses. Why waste money switching to something else when all you need is a new mirrorless body?
Canon currently has the best AF with AI and is much easier to figure out than Sony.
The Canon menu system is widely praised for ease of use while Sony is widely cursed.
Many here in UHH with Canon EF, including myself, saved thousands by just getting a R body and keeping the EF lenses which actually work better, I know personally, than they ever did before.

And how much size, weight, and cost will he have saved if that is something else Darrell78 wants to do? The lenses he has will not lose size or weight. And the adapter added to the body makes the savings difference in body weight negligible. Yes, he will gain technology over what he has now. But, again, if he wants to consider size, weight, and cost of a system, this is the time to do so. The lenses he has have value yet on the used market. Whether or not he goes full frame, 4/3rds, or some other format, this is the time to consider changing.

12 years ago, I stood where he is standing now. I could have continued what Canon equipment I had when I went digital while I was still in my early 60s. But I did not. Now that I am in my 70s, I know that I made an intelligent choice. I went smaller, lighter, and less costly with 4/3rds. And now I have a system that is 14 to 1200 in 35mm angle of view (4X lifesize with the macro), weights about 21 pounds, fits a 20"X11"X9" backpack (can fit under the airplane seat), and only cost about $15,000. Yes I can match the angle of view with 35mm equipment. But that equipment will be 40+ pounds, will require at least a 45L backpack, and cost $45,000 or more. Is full frame really worth $30,000 more than 4/3rds? For me, full frame is not worth $30,000 more unless I am a professional. But let Darrell78 make the decision for himself. Full frame may mean that much to him. And, then again, maybe not.

And even if full frame is his choice, I think he should move to Sony. From an emotional point of view, that is hard for me to say. But from a technical point of view, it is the one that makes sense to me at this time.

I was thinking about selling some of them but I am sure some are worth maybe penny's and lint with used chewed gum. Not because of their condition they still look close to brand new today. I have the Danny Tanner full house syndrome of cleaning lol. The lens you mentioned is one I was thinking of getting but also thought about getting Canon RF 15-35mm f/2.8 L IS USM little pricey but be a great walk around lens.

But also consider these but need to review them more to see how well they can do for their price. I know the L series is top of the line with quality build but I think some cheap lenses can do good in the right situations.

Canon RF 24-50mm f/4.5-6.3 IS STM - This one does come with one of the cameras mentioned which would be a good learning tool but the L lens are ons I been looking into a lot more.

Couple of small wide lenses for cheap I like that would be convenient to carry.
Canon RF 16mm f/2.8 STM
Canon RF 24mm f/1.8 Macro IS STM

But those are things I will get eventually but I first need to get the body or kit and learn the camera. Never used a mirror less and I am sure the new technology in these will be a lot different than what I am used to.

Thank you for the advice and information much appreciated.

Also check with B&H used sales to see what you can get from your current lenses. I sold most of my EF and EFS lenses there to move up to a small set of RF lenses. I was pleased with the prices offered, and with the easy of selling. You get an instant quote, and they pay the shipping.

If you want no hassle try KEH or MPB.
Do it yourself on eBay, I do that a lot. Try here on UHH but that is apparently hit or miss from seeing other's posts or Facebook marketplace and I am sure there are others.
R6 MII is an excellent choice.

The 90D would be great for wildlife I read and watched some videos on it and it is very impressive. That could be a good cheap second body just for the crop factor with my canon 100-400 L lens.

Thank you. Good idea on the price setting. I have been checking into KEH and MPB since both are very reliable sources and a good way to buy some good gear used for lower prices.
