Hi, I've going to do a job in a few days and I don't know what to name its type.

It will be an Old Time Couple in front of a restaurant that they have owned for years. The purpose of the photo will be to place it in their restaurant for posterity.
It doesn't seem that it would be called a portrait or a snap shot.

I just don't know what to call it.

Really its not important to put the photo in a category / However I would call it a Environmental Portrait.

By "Old Time Couple", do you mean they will be in costume? If not, I would think it would be posed street photography.

Id inferred that "Old Time Couple" meant a costumed couple. Many others seem not to see it that way. Needs clarification.

I'd go for "Posterity" since they are going to make it a "Poster" in the restaurant
Probably "post" it in some online service too...

Costume portrature.

Popular at county fairs and such.

Good term. We had some costume pictures taken on the boardwalk in Cape May, NJ - various Old West scenes.

Thank you. No matter the manner of dress or whatever it is still a portrait.

Celebrity environmental portraits is a term I would use...

For inspiration, look at the works of Annie Leibovitz, long-time Rolling Stone photographer. Her portraits are iconic in the world of popular music. Henry Diltz is another good one, famous for his photos and album covers of 1960s Laurel Canyon, CA, musicians.

it is like a wedding portrait . A historical visual document of a moment in time.

Isn't that what every single photo ever taken, is??

Unless the OP confirms that his "Old Time" couple will be in period costume or not, we have no clue if he means in costume or that they are simply an old/aged couple. Why would it need to be called anything, really? At best it would be an environmental portrait shoot. We also do not know in what way it will be used in the restaurant.

Therefore, OP... Puleez, tell us more. Is this just going to be a photo in a frame in the restaurant or a larger poster displayed in the restaurant? Are the couple just them or will they be dressed in period costume?

Portrait, is the clasification. Anything else would be descriptive. Imho
