What are your experiences with compact cameras and your suggestions? My current compact is a Canon Power Shot G11 and my other camera is a Canon 90D The camera that I have most of the time is a Samsung Note 9, yes it is a phone. I did a search for compact camera articles on this site, and many of them were several years ago. I'm not set on buying a Canon and looking to replace my G11.

The current Powershot G-series options are now even smaller, as are the corresponding Sony CyberShot models. You have many to select from, each with a slightly different mix of options.
Having bought a premium compact with a 1" sensor I found myself hankering after better IQ so I bought an Olympus E-P7 and a Lumix 12-32mm pancake zoom lens.
HERE (link) are some of the results.
It's just small enough to fit inside my fleece pockets. I recon it's about as much IQ as you're going to get to fit inside a medium-sized pocket. The zoom range is limited but useful for most of what I want to do. And for hand-held shots the IBIS can more than compensate for the less-than-full-frame sensor. I'll probably never buy a camera that doesn't have IBIS.

I've always been more than happy with my Lumix cameras.
Investigate a Lumix fs-70
Thank you all for your thoughts and suggestions.

Amen on the 12-32. FWIW, you dont actually need IBIS with that lens cuz it has OIS. Below, the little red camera depends on the OIS of the 12-32. Only the camera on the right has IBIS but the red GM5 is way more pocketable.
I have the Sony RX 100 along with 2 full frame Sony's. I love this little camera. I have used it while horseback riding, and it fits in a pocket or small purse.
Sony RX100 VI 20.1 MP Premium Compact Digital Camera w/ 1-inch sensor, 24-200mm ZEISS zoom lens and pop-up OLED EVF

Ditto on the Sony RX100 series. The VI and VII have plenty of reach for travel. It was my only camera on a Disney trip and had excellent results. It's the perfect mix (imho) of quality and convenience.
In order - RX100 vii, Canon G5X ii, Panasonic ZS100, Olympus Stylus 1. Not a fan of the short lens cameras that go to about 70mm, nor the one focal length cams - to restrictive. The Panasonic GM5 has great IQ, but requires changing of lenses. which means carrying more stuff and destroys the "pocketability. The "Best Cameras" articles writers can't make up their minds so list them all, hoping you won't notice and will "buy them all."

Yes, my Vintage Lumix Cameras have served me well!
I have 2 compacts and 1 bridge camera. I got the ZS100 before the 200 came out. I wanted a pocketable camera with better than a 1/2.3" sensor, a viewfinder, and a zoom lens with as much "reach" as available. I was happy with it except that on occasion, I wanted more reach, so I got the ZS80. The bridge camera came much earlier and has more reach than anything else I own. It got a great eclipse shot. It is an SX50 HS.
