What brands are good & easy to interchange drives when speed is need?

Antec, Corsair, Thermaltake, Fractal Design, Cooler Master.
I've been using Antec for years.

Curious - do you move your "user" data, like documents, to the data drive or leave it on the system drive and place all other data on the data drive. ie. C:\users\<username>\Documents
Windows expects a user folder on C: by default.

I've had data on a D drive for years, so all I do is move the D drive from the old computer to the new one. It's easy to move data from C to D. Just drag and drop. I don't do the whole disc at once, usually folder by folder. I recently moved everything to a new D drive. Only the OS and programs reside on C.

I don't like the "C:\users..." system. I've always made my own folders. Much more direct.

I'm no Jerryc41 but when I set up a new computer in 2020 I created a D:\users\<username> folder and inside it folders for my libraries. I copied my data directly to those folders and changed the location tab of the system libraries to point to the new folders.

Separate physical drive or a partition (logical drive) on the system drive.
My D: and E: are separate physical hard drives. C: is an SSD.

Micro Center. They have great prices and great service if you ever need it. They have high speed gaming towers that are very expandable and great prices. They will also build what you want change what you want on a stock model and sell everything needed to build or change your own.

Most, but not all. I mistakenly bought this Dell tower not knowing that I could not add optical drives. I can add HDD or SSD, though, and I did. You just have to read the description carefully. To be certain, contact the seller. If it has any drive at all, you can replace it with a larger, faster drive. The thing is, you want to be able to have at least two drives - OS and data.

Dell Computers are not open source nor built to specifications. They are proprietary OEM where there's little to choose from. Eg., You can't go to Dell and ask for a computer with this case, this motherboard, this CPU, this video card, this memory, etc. If you want something like that from Dell you would have to go to their Alienware division; which in my opinion are too expensive for what they are giving you. You could do a lot better money wise somewhere else.

If you want more then two or three physical drives, you'll probably need to build it yourself, so you can purchase a full tower.

Having an SSD for the C drive is the new standard.

Yea, whether we like it or not.

My desktop tower is old. (oh well it's not a desktop as it sit on the floor) More than 10 year old. I will have to replace it when Microsoft stops supporting Windows 10. But it's still good for me today. Still have CD/DVD drive. 3.5" floppy drive.

Maybe Windows 12 will tempt you.

Well no I already decided which computer I will buy when Microsoft stops support Windows 10. I wait until that time when it is a few year old then I buy it. You know I am here all the time so I need to connect to the internet so I replace the existing computer when I can't browse the web with it any more.
