Well, FOR YOU, I thought that might be a real option. LOL

Isnβt it kinda funny that back in the film days, us amateur photogs lusted for the black bodied version and some would pay extra $ to have one. Now we want the traditional vintage look. I guess it makes the retro design look more authentic.

Yes I paid an extra of $25 for my Nikon F2AS black body in 1977.
I want one in Barbie pink.

Tony showed pictures of the upcoming Nikon ZF last night - pictures from Nikon Rumors. He thought it was a big mistake for Nikon to be offering it in black and only black. This was designed to be a retro camera, so it should be available in silver. Maybe that will happen. After all, it's not like they would have to change the mechanics or electronics to offer it in silver. I might buy a silver one, but I certainly wouldn't buy a black one.
I thought nobody agreed with Northrup?!
Oh No, not black!! How could they?
I want a bright green one with dials in bright yellow.
This issue of chrome or silver finish on a body versus black is interesting.
In the early 70's when I lusting after my first chance to purchase a SLR, there were often both choices and the black only cameras were always a bit more expensive and presented a more "professional' appearance.
Now folks are looking for chrome/silver bodies as a nostalgia factor.

I'd never admit that Phony Tony and I agreed on
anything, much less announce it to the world.
Way back when I bought my first Nikon 35mm FTN I got a silver model. Black was considered a pro model and were hard to get.

It's a rumor with a picture.
I'll be surprised if they don't offer it in silver, like previous models.
Maybe a rainbow of colors like the Zfc was introduced with. My Zfc is chrome, and just because, it is in an old fashioned leather half case w/strap. My Df is the same.

The Nikon 1, 2011-2018, their advanced small 1" sensor DSLR camera of a decade ago came in a
range of colors. Of course it was not a D"S"LR, S= single lens, it came with a range of mm and zoom lenses. I have one that I converted to IR Full. The camera sales were not good and removed from the market. Will this new Retro Nikon succumb to the same fate?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nikon_1_seriesThe retro APSC is selling very well so I suspect a retro FF will also.

Interesting observation. Jerry, do you know the original reason Nikon went from silver to black? It is an interesting story.
Seems the Pro's went to great measures to keep their camera's in a low profile while out in public. They did not want their camera's " NOTICED". So many Pro's used grafting tape to make their CHROME camera's inconspicuous.
Finally listening to the Pro's, Nikon started to paint black over the brass Nikon bodies. Because Pro's used the black painted bodies constantly the black paint would rub off showing the brass underneath.
So, following this, amateur photographers, wanting to LOOK professional, started buying these black bodies in great numbers. The idea caught on and so when Nikon went to hybrid materials for their bodies, they stayed with black cause most wanted black as a preferred color. Now, from time to time they threw in silver bodies to change things up.
So you see, a retro Zf should be black cause that was the preferred color for the Pro's and amateur's alike.
We will leave the silver one's for the amateur photographers, if Nikon does indeed do that.
Who knows Jerry, after a year of heavy sales of the new Zf black body, Nikon may bring it out in silver so all those who bought it in black will buy a second one in silver.
Good luck and keep on shooting until the end.
