Two odd news items today -

A woman was driving into a gas station, and she struck a row on EV charging stations, causing her pickup truck to roll over. They needed the jaws of life to get her out of the truck, and she's in serious condition.
How fast was she going?!

A fire that started in a chicken coop threatened a car and a home. Aside from electricity or a heater, what could have caused a chicken coop fire? Does anything in there generate a lot of heat?

Maybe the rooster was careless with the cigarette he was smoking.

Composting bedding.

The composting process can generate a lot of heat and chicken manure has a lot of nitrogen which can really heat up a compost pile.

A neighbor had a fire in a hay barn caused by a leak in the roof. The wet hay composted and caught fire

There was a horrific automobile accident in our area captured on a home surveillance camera of an automobile that flew through the air and crashed into a house damaging it so badly that what was left of it had to be demolished.

Crime scene recreation with the help of the video camera estimated that she was traveling in excess of 110 mph which caused the automobile to launch when she left the road. They summarized that she had a medical event, passed out, and kept her foot on the accelerator. The driver did not survive, and it was possible that she passed away before impact.

I've seen surveillance videos of things like that. It's especially bad when it's a $250,000 car that's destroyed. I get a daily email from the local paper with the local news. Every day there are people arrested for driving drunk or under the influence of drugs.

The local paper sends me headlines every morning.

I wish I had more time! Between computer, TV, and naps, my day goes by too fast.

And I have to add that one's days go by faster as one grows older. I remember sitting in a grade school classroom waiting for the bell to ring to end the day and it felt like an eternity. Now, when I wake up and finish getting ready for the day it is already time to get ready for bed. Go figure.

Maybe a pile of oily rags that got left there because of who knows what reason?

Casual tests have shown this to be true. When asked to estimate elapsed time, young people indicated more time elapsed than older people did. I think I'm living ten-hour days now.

Now, when I wake up and finish getting ready for the day it is already time to get ready for bed. Yes, it does take old folks longer to get dressed. 🤣

That proves that your life time is exactly the same length regardless how long you have lived. If you are only a month old a day is 1/30th of your life. If you are 100 year old then 1 year is only 1/100th of your life.

The heat liberated by decomposing organic material can lead to what's called spontaneous combustion. It's a problem in lots of areas; compost piles, haystacks, etc.
