It's a toss up, not good with, not comfortable without. Maybe the title "Shower of Orchids" will have the viewer thinking it is raining orchids.
Yea Wasabi, I agree, it is a toss up for me. I do read a lot of comments about removing this and that because it is distracting. Most of these do not bother me since many I do not even see the 'distraction' unless some one points it out. I guess I am just half blind and or to basic to just see and appreciate the image as captured.
stay cool.

I totally agree. With the stick/ stem removed it looks like it is just floating there or added in
If you’re selling orchids leave it in, otherwise clone it out IMHO

For me, there are times when I have something in my mind that i want to create, so i take pictures to produce what i want.
examples:
This is whats there
This is what i saw in my mind
Same as this pair
And this too
Sometimes i remove stuffs to make the image better (in my own judgement). Sometimes to fit a narrative. But oftentimes as given in the above examples, It is to produce an idea i have in my mind.

Wallen;
what you said and showed is no where near what my thoughts were to this particular post. I DO UNDERSTAND how tweaking images enhances and improves them. Me. run all of mine through Light Room and do an auto adjust or maybe some other tweaks to enhance the image. But this post was just about the flower stalk stick. A yes or no.
Being an Orchid grower for my home pleasure only, it is just part of the scenery to me as I stated. Period.
That is just me.
Now I do respect and admire your contributions here on UHH but my response was just simply my personal thought on the OP's simple question.
I am in Texas but where ever you are be cool and and a cold beer is here for you bro.
Bruce.
I like to get rid of any trace of man from nature photos. I shoot a lot in parks or botanical gardens and I am forever removing sticks. I don't mind the floating thing. I have shot photos intentionally where the stem is hidden and the flowers look like they are floating.

Sorry i got fixated on the lines;
"I do read a lot of comments about removing this and that because it is distracting. Most of these do not bother me since many I do not even see the 'distraction' "
because I had posted many such photos.
I though of sharing my own reasons for removing or editing elements; which was to either arrive at something already planned way ahead before the capture was done, or something I see in my mind at the moment of capture.
It is a deviant to the usual practice of removing an (unintentional/percieved) eyesore which is the problem of the OP.
Thanks for the beer, I'll drink to that. May we always get bright days and smiles wherever we are.

No, you are not. The flowers are so strong of a pull that the stick does not distract me. Beautiful image.

Your choice of words (clone) is interesting... to Orchid growers, that term means to take a piece of the meristem tissue/growth, place in a sterile jar, on an agar solution, and in a few years you will have a new plant (or more likely thousands, all identical!). The orchid plants you see in stores now are grown using this procedure.

I am one of those that say remove the stick. This image was taken in order to be sold. To me the stick detracts from the star of this image, the Orchids.
will
Yes. It would get rid of the distraction.
