Orchid experts : To clone or not to clone - That is the question

I recently shot this attractive Orchid grouping "A Shower Of Orchids" for my Fine Art America sales site.

Sony A99, 100mm Tokina macro, hand held.

The question is - Should I clone out the dark supporting stick ? The cloning will take some time and effort (by me - if I do it) .....

I would remove it myself. If you are using Photoshop, it might be easier to select the stick and use Content Aware Fill to remove it rather than cloning.

I don't have or use Photoshop - so I would be cloning it in Elements 9 ....8-( - otherwise, pay to have it done - which I have done before on one other of my images.

It's your picture to do with what you will. If it bothers you clone it out. It would be an easier choice if the orchid wasn't so good

I guess I’m the only guy who is OK with the stick. It doesn’t bother me at all and as an orchid grower myself the stick is just part of the whole image because it supports the flower stalk.

I'm with you on this one. If you remove the stick the orchids just look like they are floating in space.

Thank you for the reply and comment. Yes you’re right they just flop around and they can easily be broken off too.
Bruce.

It's a toss up, not good with, not comfortable without. Maybe the title "Shower of Orchids" will have the viewer thinking it is raining orchids.

For me, this is one of those few cases where “manipulating” a photo (without disclosure) is acceptable when it’s impossible to capture the scene without the distraction, for example, a power line.
I’d say take it out.
