We see the occasional copperhead near our house but maybe fewer since we also have king snakes. I like that they lie still and watch when we walk by instead of chasing us like the black racers do. The fine lines of gold on black are beautiful. Thank you for the post.
Good job, Sam. They are one of the "good guys" to have around.
Every yard should welcome one. They do get rid of rats, mice and poisonous snakes. Good shot!

I'm not fond of snakes in general but I prefer ones that kill venomous ones. And therefore I prefer constrictors to biters.
That's a speckled king snake. They are very docile. I've handled many different species and never been bit. Good snakes to have around...

Great shot but I hate snakes we have far to many very dangerous ones in Aussie.

Most every animal that is alive in Ausie is trying to kill you..
