We drove through the Palouse to Steptoe Butte, a 3600 foot butte that provided a view of the entire area. I had my 100 - 400 lens and got out in the parking lot at the top. There was a high wind and we were worried that the oncoming clouds would result in rain or a cloudy day.

My first shot was at 200mm and I realized that this was not the focus setting to capture the breadth of the area. The other panos were shot at 100mm and stitched. As you can see from the position of the sunlight and the clouds, I was able to get roughly 270 degrees of the view from the top. The area at the very top that would allow me a complete 360 degree view required a climb in high wind. I decided to forego that opportunity.

Downloads provide interesting detail of the surrounding farms.

Comments and suggestions are welcome.

Nice work with the panorama images. Steptoe is a great spot for capturing the essence of the Palouse area.

Thanks, I only wish that I had been better prepared to do it justice.

At that altitude and distance, Susan, I think that you are correct.
