I bought a base model Mustang in Dec. 2020. It's fast enough for me and it's a sharp looking car. I get compliments all the time. Reasonable gas milage. Only downside is with all Mustangs- rear wheel drive. But last year in Philly we only got 0.3 inches of snow :)

That's an awfully broad question. Mustangs run the gamut from some of the slowest junkiest cars made to some of the most advanced crazy fast cars on the road. Some of the mid sixties Mustangs have been skyrocketing in the last six months or so. I'm talking quarter of a million and up. On the other hand, you can go to craigs list and find A Mustang for a few thousand dollars.I think you'd have to be more specific to get info that would help you.

I still much prefer a Corvette.

Thinking of purchasing one in the future. Any pro’s or cons would be appreciated.

If you’re talking about one from the sixties, they’re tinny death traps. I know, I had a ‘65 one.

Funny, I borrowed my sister in laws car with the push button start and forgot to push to turn off... car still running in parking lot 20 min. later... Engine VERY quiet.

Happened to me too…left my d-i-l’s car running for the whole second half of my granddaughter’s lacrosse game. Great kid! She agreed it would be our secret👍

The only new car I've ever bought was a 1964 1/2 Mustang. 289, 3 on the tree $2550. Sold my '55 T-Bird ($1400) and couldn't find anything I liked except the Mustang.

n4jee hi, I also bought a new 64.5 Mustang in 1964...it was an all synchro 3spd, 260 V8, 164 HP, Am radio & heater Convertible. That's it! No other extras at all. Loved that car, very reliable & fun to drive.

I have NEVER EVER heard of a column shift Mustang...are you sure you are remembering right? As far as I know they all came with floor shifters on the tranny hump. Not saying you didn't have a 3 on the tree, I keep getting surprised at all the little special details Ford offered over the years, but this was also the year they first offered the new all synchro 3 spd tranny on the floor standard in the Mustang. Which meant you could shift into Low or First gear while still rolling and take off instantly! No more double clutching First. I would be very interested in hearing if you are correct in your remembering or not. Walt

Here is my present fun car...94 GT Tribute car to the Roush 360 R series Mustangs... I have had 4 new Mustangs.

I bought my 2016 turbocharged 4 banger Mustang new. I'm just glad I purchased a 100K drive train warranty. At 99K miles the head warped and I lost a lot of compression. For $100 Ford replaced the engine. It's the first time I purchased a warranty. Talk about s____ luck. Other than that I love it. With a 6 speed transmission, it goes like a V8 and then some. The only extra I got was Recarro front seats. My wife doesn't like them but they really hold you in the seat when you're cornering fast (which I do on a regular basis).

Do some due diligence with Consumer Reports to see what owners have experienced.

Reliability is about average when compared to other new and recent model year cars.

A guy in our neighborhood has one. It is the loudest and most annoying car in the neighborhood, befitting his personality... He loves to accelerate full throttle past our house. I'm not impressed. I expect him to kill a jogger, walker, or bicyclist someday. We live on a narrow main road with no sidewalks that leads to a recreational lake...

Take a look at the new high end Prius. Plenty sporty, but practical and very fuel efficient... without the noise.

I have a similar situation on my street. It is one way, narrow with parking on only one side, numerous homes for elderly, middle age and younger families with children between about 7 to 12 years of age. I'm retired and have spoken with the "culprit," who is maybe 21 or 22, and loves to accelerate loudly from his father's place to the stop sign at the end of the street, maybe 300 to 400 feet. For some time he was burning out and smoking the tires until I saw him lose some control and start to fishtail and nearly go over the curb with the back wheels. That's when I told his father to have him stop. We had a discussion, him loudly and me telling him I could and would call the police if it didn't stop.

I've had a couple other interactions with the father who says I am harassing the son and the family. I informed him (Dad) that I have the son's car's license number on a photo to which he says I can't take a photo of the car if it is in his driveway without his permission. Not the sharpest knife in the drawer. The son and I had a calm discussion and he isn't doing burnouts any more, but he loves accelerating quickly and loudly nearly every time he leaves the area.
The father has shouted at me, called me names (including MF) and even said he'd like to "Lay somebody out." as he looked me in the eye. My reply was, "Go for it, then I can have you arrested for assault and battery." He's pretty much stayed on his own property since that and hasn't said anything more to me.
