Thinking of purchasing one in the future. Any pro’s or cons would be appreciated.

Do some due diligence with Consumer Reports to see what owners have experienced.

Reliability is about average when compared to other new and recent model year cars.

A guy in our neighborhood has one. It is the loudest and most annoying car in the neighborhood, befitting his personality... He loves to accelerate full throttle past our house. I'm not impressed. I expect him to kill a jogger, walker, or bicyclist someday. We live on a narrow main road with no sidewalks that leads to a recreational lake...

Take a look at the new high end Prius. Plenty sporty, but practical and very fuel efficient... without the noise.

What are you looking for, a classic Mustang or a newer one for a daily driver. There are also several models, from very affordable to some for the specialty model such as the Shelby GT350 or GT500. Entry level V6 and 4 cyl models are affordable and new models have great performance.
Get in touch with a local Mustang Car Club.

I've owned my '79 since 1980. I had one engine rebuild due to an accident prior to ownership. The motor now has 290,000+ miles on the rebuild. 10.5:1 compression, Balanced and Blueprinted by Raymond Beadle in Dallas Tx. Machined flywheel, 12 lbs, Custom tranny, 8.8" rear. The only issues I had were thieves that constantly stole the car. I still own it.
I used to own a '85 GT, but thieves bent on theft used a crowbar to try to steal resulting in a total loss.
Many friends had Mustangs and had no issues with it. I find it to be a very good car and would buy one in a NY minute

The only experience I have would be controlling the drool when it comes to the Shelby Super Snake.

825 horses and a price tag in the neighborhood of $134,000. Too rich for my blood and I would probably kill myself in it anyway. My reflexes aren't as fast as they were 40+ years ago.

My midlife crisis takes the form of high-end Nikon glass which is getting cheaper all the time because of the folks that can't resist the lure of mirrorless. Thanks!

Not a bad car. The classic 64 1/2 to 70 are the most desirable IMHO. And most of the later ones are decent cars. The new all electric one is a departure from the classics in both the power plant and the fact that it's a 4 door. There is one that you should avoid like the plague though: The Mustang II. It was a seriously under-powered attempt at meeting the mileage requirements of the 1970's Arab fuel crisis and shared a lot of parts with the dangerous Pinto. I can say this with authority because I used to make commercials for Ford and drove them all.

the 2011 and newer 6 cylinder is all the power you need ! 4 cylinder turbos are not durable !

The '04-'06 Thunderbirds are also a good investment now ......

I owned a '65 and '66 fastbacks .....

without the noise how do you know the engine is running? That guy must have a wooden engine. I call it that because it sounds like something slapping wood on wood. It's not high rev just loud.

I hear you on the seriously underpowered wannabe Mustang.

Thirty-five years ago (give or take), I had a friend who owned a tow yard. One day he called and told me that he had just completed a mechanics lien on a 1976 Mustang II. It has a pristine body but had a blown motor. He also said that I could have the car and that he would even tow it to my house free of charge.

Two months later a slightly punched out V6 was dropped back in and it had a very expensive Kenwood cassette deck with 6 Rockford Fosgate speakers that were completely invisible, and a 200-watt amp in the trunk.

Also underpowered by today's standards but as far as rolling stereos went, it was pretty cool and was still loud enough to cause hearing loss.

Those were the days...

The internal combustion engine comes on only around 12 MPH and turns off any time the car can coast or it can run on the electric motor-generators. If the engine is cold, the motor will start to run up to temperature, but once there, it stops when you stop, and goes only when you need it.

We have had six hybrids since 2008. They are the most reliable cars we ever owned, and the least expensive cars to drive, per mile (about $.44, including ALL costs of ownership and use). We're amazed by them.

The new Prius line-up gets rave reviews from YouTube reviewers. Nearly all are surprised at the power and looks, and never thought they would say that about a Prius.

Here’s my 2019 4 cylinder turbo EcoBoost. Absolutely love it. With cold air intake and a custom tune it has around 340 HP yet gets sound 25 mph city and 31 mph highway.

The only new car I've ever bought was a 1964 1/2 Mustang. 289, 3 on the tree $2550. Sold my '55 T-Bird ($1400) and couldn't find anything I liked except the Mustang.

My brother had a 1995 Mustang. No problems. He lived not far from you at the time - East Rockaway.

Every car ever made has weak points. Look for reviews online, but don't expect perfection.
