Wow.
I plug my Droid into the computer and it looks like an external drive on the computer. I can move files easily between the two devices.

Yes that I know. That is why although I am used to the Iphone I hate the way Apple does it so much.

I'll bet! I would also.

Honestly, I am not sure there is that much difference. Android can seem much more complicated at times because it is an open system with everybody and their brother writing apps for them. Because of this, many of the apps written for the android system are trash....

The OS is transparent to me. All the apps I have on my Droid work great.
Luckily, none are "trashy".
Not "complicated", and every OS is different.

A poorly written app can be on any system, not just Android.
Yea, there are some functions in some apps that I would have done differently, but I didn't write the app....
Some programmers are thorough, some are not.
Not restricted to Android.

I've been an Android fan for years....have the S22+ now. Love it. Many more programs are written for it as opposed to IPhones. There's been a rash of security issues with Iphones lately. I'd be concerned about that in making a choice.

You can't transfer a file or photo from you computer to the Iphone. You can transfer out of the Iphone but not into the Iphone. I want to use a photo I took with my camera as the background for the Iphone and I have to send it thru the internet. I have a lot of documents in pdf I want to transfer to the Iphone to view but they all have to go thru the internet. I have some sound files I need to play on the Iphone (it's not music or something you want to listen) but still they have to go thru the internet. But since now it's not so easy to get the audio output out of the Iphone (same for the Android I think) I don't use it in that way any more.

You are correct about the direct cable transfer of images and files TO the iPhone. Apple does not allow that for some reason. I think it is due to possible copyright issues.

However, the transfer of images and files TO the iPhone via Dropbox does work well. I guess technically that is cloud transfer but it is not Apple iCloud. You have total control of the Dropbox content. I normally only use it to transfer large amounts of data between devices and once transferred, I delete it from Dropbox.

As I mentioned once Dropbox is set up on all your devices and set to synch automatically, anything you move into Dropbox is available on all devices that you have Dropbox installed. It is password protected so no one else has access. You can allow someone to have access to special areas via a temporary password if you want to transfer large files to someone else.

I really don't like the idea of having 2 devices a foot from each other and have a cable between them but the data has to go thru the internet. Apple argues it's for security but going thru the internet has more chance of compromising the security. Nevertherless, the hardware is surely capable of doing the job. Apple can surely make it work and doesn't cost them a penny yet they want you to do it their way. This is where I don't like it.

The company that I worked for issued Iphone to me so I have been using Iphone 4, 5, 6, 7 , 11 and the latest was 12. Now that I retired I don't have the phone any more. If I get the Iphone 14 it would be familiar because I have used the Iphones in the past. However, as I have been using the Iphone I hate Apple policy of restricting files transfer between a computer and the phone via cable. They want everything going thru the cloud and I hate that. So I am thinking of getting the Galaxy S23 but I have used the Android phone very little. I had an old Android tablet years ago but I am not familiar with the Android OS.
What would you suggest? I think I am leaning toward the Samsung but I am afraid it would be difficult to use. Although I have used the Iphone for years I still think it's difficult to use so never had an Android phone it may be too difficult for me?

Obviously, you hate the iPhone, so stop the bitching and buy an Android phone and transfer your files to your heart's content! Jeez Louise, it is an easy problem to solve, get the Android phone!

I'd much rather cable a device, no biggie. Transfer of a lot of information over encrypted WIFI takes SO much longer. I don't mind a file or three. but for many files I simply copy them to a fob and put the fob in the other computer.
I also have a "reversed" network cable to connect the laptop directly to the desktop. Turn off WIFI on the laptop and transfer is SO much faster through the network cable.

The problem is that I have not used the Android phone and it may well be worse in other aspects. Not so much hardware wise but more on the OS. But I do know that I can transfer the files to the Android phone easily. I did have problem navigating the phone with the limited time I handle one.

Technology can be difficult to use at times, but unless you refuse to take the time to teach yourself how to use the new technology (in this case the Android OS) you will never get past the mental stumbling block you have built for yourself. Pickup a cheap Android phone, there are lots of them out there on your much-loved internet and learn how to use it. Youtube has many instructive videos on the various functions built into the Android OS. Try it you may like it. God hates a quitter.

Used the droids for years, am very happy with the power management of the iPhone 14 that I have now.

I agree Jonyrot, but BebuLamar's issue is not with the iPhone but with the way the iPhone requires the user to use the "internet" to transfer data files into the iPhone. Specifically, having to use iCloud as the transfer medium to make the data transfer. By his own admission, BebuLamar has used the iPhone from iPhone 4 to iPhone 12 so we must assume he is very familiar with the OS operation. But, for him, the fact he is not familiar with the Android OS prevents him from switching to an Android OS phone even though he is of the opinion the Android OS file transfer method is superior. Superior, I suggest, means easier for him to use. Until such time as BebuLamar takes the plunge and buys an Android OS phone, he will continue to ask others if it is the correct thing to do.

Personally I believe iPhones are mostly a status symbol. Samsung phones are much more user friendly IMHO.

Yes, kinda seems that way.....
(I never bought anything Apple, don't plan on it either.)
