I got another class action check yesterday. This one was about a Roundup (weed killer) case. The check was for only $26.18, but I've received about $400 over the years. Never turn down the chance to join a class action lawsuit. I bet the lawyers got twice what I got.

I’ll bet the lawyers got thousands of dollars. Maybe 10’s of thousands of dollars. In any class action suit, the greedy lawyers take their cut right off the top and the rest is divided by however many participants joined the lawsuit.

The law firm got 30% but that 30% for one law firm with not so many people. 70% of the settelment goes to the plantiff but there may be millions of people like Jerry.

Years ago, it was thought that you couldn't write a check for less than $1.00.

Yeah but you can't send the cash and if you don't send the $0.02 to the millions of plaitiffs in the law suit the lawyers can't get your $0.01 for each of them. It adds up.

I got another class action check yesterday….

Years ago, I was a pharmacist in a CVS. It was a clean store and I enjoyed caring for the regular customers.

One night, a patient asked for my help in one of the aisles. I went out to help. When I returned, there was a young pimple faced kid in a brown suit waiting outside. He was a district manager. He asked me where I was. I told him and he asked why. With each answer I gave he kept asking why. After a few minutes of this I told him to stop wasting his time. He just
P1$$€D me off.

About a year later, i left for another pharmacy. I learned about a class action lawsuit. It seems that us night pharmacist would not be given a meal break. We were working though a non-existent dinner hour. We were not paid. Since we should have gotten paid for that hour the pharmacy made a sizable profit. I joined the class and was able to prove my case as did others. I should have gotten $30K. But after lawyer fees, I walked away with $17K. Still not a drop in the bucket.

I'm not an attorney so I can't speak to the veracity of this but I've read that some law firms join consortiums for the sole purpose of identifying cases that can be turned into a lucrative class action lawsuit. Johns Manville was an example of this which destroyed the company and put thousands out of work and cost investors millions if not billions of dollars. I suspect that the Camp Lejeune is another example of this. And Camp Lejeune (Uncle Sam who is really us taxpayers) has really deep pockets.
