I like it, keep it...It means something to you and that's what matters. I have tons that mean something only to me and that's ok.

Very cool! My granddaughter would love it. Her name is Zoey and she spells it just like that.

I really like the background, I would probably outline the limb, leaves and bird using the magnetic lasso and then sharpen it a little.. but like others have said, if you like it, that is what counts.. i would bet that most photographers have some photos that we keep for one reason or another that if someone else looks at they might wonder why we are keeping it........

Beautiful pic... add a little bit of more light and use a texture (fabric texture will work well, you can find them for free on line) for the background, and then mask the bird!!

Still have lots of photos stored that I haven't looked at in years, but if I pulled them out I would have this same problem. There's just some ya can't get rid of & that's OK. I see why you can't. Its a great shot that just came up soft. Still to good to discard. Kudos to Ya.

I think that photos are like fine wine, they get better over the years

Don't trash it. If for no other reason, it brings you back to the ponderings and questions... both excellent qualities in a photographer.

Thank you Kathi. Your opinions and encouragement is greatly appreciated.

Heck no, dont trash that..it is the balance and tonal range that keeps it strong. I like the fact that is is not sharp, and would consider making it softer just to get it off the border and make it work. I really like this, and if you look at my posts, i am picky. A keeper+

Thanks Rhino. I greatly appreciate your time and thoughtful explanations. I'm 60 years old and work full time, so people like you are my only hope in improving my skills. I did read your other posts, and I must admit, "picky" wasn't my first impression. LOL But, a person can only learn from "honest" critique...not pacifying opinion. It's obvious you intend to "help" and that deserves respect. Thank you.

You caught him pondering -just what is this all about? I like the shot ,simple and soft.

Thanks Tooth Maker. He does look a bit "puzzled", don't he. Just happens I'll be in NC tomorrow neighbor.

Go into photo shop if you have it. Using curves select the white eye dropper tool make a selection on the white part of the birds breast. Go to edit fade curves and do about 70%

This should give you more natural colors and a whiteish back round for your Image

Thanks Mitch. I appreciate you taking time to show me an alternative. I do have PSE 9, but I'm a bit "green" on it's capabilities.
I do like your edit.

I like it! The sharpness and the intensity of the colors really captured my interest. The contemplative expression on the bird's face (sparrow?) is a great contrast. I would definitely keep it!

Thank you dc. I'm very pleased you like it, and I appreciate your time and comments.

I like it, too, but I'd probably take it to Photoshop and put a different background in it.

Thanks russelray. Based on the responses I've gotten I certainly won't trash it, so some experimenting is definitely on the agenda.

Absolutely not. Never discard an image that you have even the slightest second thought about. You can always discard later after you have exhausted all other avenues of enhancement. Here is a image of a Cardinal that was quite out of fucus among other flaws. It's not great but I like it.

Thanks Steve. An excellent example of "avenues of enhancement", and other than the "expletive" flaws (LOL) you mentioned... sound advice indeed. :D
