Leaving for Ireland in a week and would like recommendation on what lenses to take. I have a Nikon D7100 and Nikon D610. Lenses are:
Nikon 20-200mm f2.8 (FX)
Nikon 28-300mm f3.5-5.6 (FX)
Nikon 35mm f1.4 (DX)
Nikon 50mm f1.4 (FX)
Tokina 11-16mm f2.8 (DX)
Tamron 24-70mm f2.8 (FX)
Any suggestions for combination camera and lenses? Trying to stay minimalistic and not take too much equipment. Any advice is greatly appreciated.
Thanks!!!

I would take the 28-300 and something super wide, the 11-16. I travel all the time and want both the long reach and the ability to shoot in small and tight locations. I do a lot of church interiors and organ lofts. I would take both cameras but would pack one in a zip lock bag with no lens and leave it in my luggage. Strictly back up.

It seems like you would be most comfortable taking the D610 with that 28-300mm lens, and the D7100 with the 11-16mm lens. Both your D610 and D7100 are decent in low light, so skip the f1.4 lenses.

Everyone says you wont need anything longer than a wide lens or more than a 24-70mm lens, but many photographers just walk by and dont even see the excellent and different landscape compositions with a longer focal length in addition to the obvious wide angle compositions. As a longtime Professor of Photography at a state university, I try to help my students train their eyes to see more possible compositions.

Cheers and best to you.

Sometimes photos say it better than words. Here just a few of my thousands of shots from Scotland, all at focal lengths from 80mm to 400mm, all. I have done the same in Ireland, but those shots are stored away in a box in my storage locker since I moved to Texas.

Cheers, best to you, and have a great trip.

We're not all pros. Never having traveled overseas, just looking for what others have found most useful. I don't want to carry a bag full of equipment. I want to enjoy the trip and get some good shots while there. Shooting indoors and in close confines is a different matter than landscapes. So I'm just asking which of my available equipment will serve me best.

I appreciate what you’re saying, but why would equipment for Ireland differ from equipment that you’d take to the city nearest you? It depends what you’re willing to carry and what you crave to shoot. The location is irrelevant.

The topography and the features of the landscapes do vary widely wherever in the world you shoot, so YES it does make some difference to know what is suggested for Ireland from folks who have shot there. The large Irish cities, not so much different than your needs in other modern large cities, but the small towns, farmlands, countryside, wildlife and more do vary from America. In Ireland, most of your time spent photographing will NOT be in any large cities.

Location is never irrelevant to what gear you choose, never. And working with weight and space limitations for your gear while traveling in a foreign location is never the same as photographing close to home. And that comes from a longtime photographer that has shot all around the world.

Cheers and best to you.

Your camera is APS, so with the crop factor your 28-300 is not really a wide angle, so I'd also take the 11-16. I used APS 11mm quite a bit when I was recently there.

RolandDieter, his D610 is a fullframe camera and his 28-300mm lens is a Fullframe lens, so YES he will get a true 28mm wide angle view with that combo. His D7100 is the DX (APS-C) camera.

Cheers

We did a one week motor coach based tour of Ireland in 2018. I shoot APS-c and used a 17-50mm/2.8 for 56% of my shots. My 12-24mm was used for 35% of my images. The balance were cell phone shots.
My current backup philosophy is to carry only my latest DSLR (even though I have another very similar body), have my wife take her 1" sensor ZS100 and both take our Pixel phones.

How would anyone know what would serve YOU the best????

People will suggest what will serve THEM the best.

Isn't that something like "What dish in <name of> restaurant will I like the best?"?
I'll suggest Conch chowder.

A good article on why using a telephoto lens (in addition to using your wide angle lens) can take your landscape photography to a different level:

From Canon:

Sometimes you just need to get out of your wide-angle-only landscape mindset and see the world in new perspectives. Try it, you might like the results. IMHO still shoot your wide angle and medium focal length shots, but also try some longer focal length compositions, and expand your visual creativity while still having fun on your vacation. .

Cheers and best to you all.

So who p*ssed in your Corn Flakes? These folks responding to my inquiry are just offering their past experience to someone who is not a professional photographer. I value their opinions.

You are most welcome. Always happy to help.

Cheers and have a great trip. Ireland is magical for sure. And very friendly folks.
