Here is a 34 Ford hot rod I built back in the 70's. Instead of the typical Chevy small block, I installed a 426 Hemi out of a 69 Plymouth Roadrunner. I think it was the last year of the solid lifter Hemi's. It had a 513 rear end. I was a pipe welder by trade, so I was able to build the headers and exhaust system myself. It was loud, fast and a lot of fun.
I wish I still had the motor today.
Bad to the bone! Building headers seems it would be a bitch. I don't recall ever seeing a Roadrunner with anything but the 383. My brother-in-law had an RT with a Hemi, but I don't know if it was OEM or done later. My across the street neighbor has a Ram PU with a Hemi. 426, I guess. I don't know if they are available anymore in another displacement.Sounds great. I miss the rumble of a good engine. All you hear these days is the whine of the rice burners and the putt-putt sort of sound that the Chevy PUs make when the youngsters get on 'em and think they'e hot.
