Nice work. I have a daughter-in-law that makes almost all her prints in B&W. Most young-er (she's 40) people don't appreciate the artistry involved.

A time or two I've been called what is a synonym for "old manure spreader." I'm 77 and the first letter in the first word of the synonym is "B." You can guess the rest.

This old manure spreader was hiding in the grass near Preparation Canyon in the loess hills in western Iowa. Captured a couple of decades ago on film.

One of the few pieces of Machinery that the dealers would not stand behind...

It predates the ones that I used on our farm so I can appreciate it's function and form. I'll have to look closer to see if it has a horse-drawn set up. Oh that smell! Dad used say it was the "smell of money" which in his world, it truly was. I prefer the smell of newly cut hay!

Early childhood memories lead me to believe it was horse drawn. Looking carefully on the left side of the image, I see the remains remains of the frame for the seat bench and footrest. I remember climbing up beside my dad to help “drive” the team (really just hold the slack ends of the reins). Thanks for the memories!

I agree totally. It may have been converted to tractor pull at some point.

In case anyone was wondering, the camera was level. It's pretty hilly where the spreader was found.
