So, if this remains true, then you have a way out of this problem. Rather than the 'add' option of Import from a folder on the computer, you can use the 'copy' option from the camera-card where the images are added to the LRCAT at the same time they're copied onto some location on your harddrive. You get to decide which is more important, arguing with Adobe or working productively.

Paul, I think I'm going to give up on Adobe and just not import the photos from that particular folder into LR, or maybe try Bridge for them once I learn how to use it. I have imported photos today from a different folder (new iPhone photos taken by my wife this week) without issue. I normally import from an SD card (if it is mine) for those photos taken with my Canons, but the photos coming from someone else's SD card (sent to me) or an iPhone have to first be moved to a folder on the desktop, then imported from the folder into LR. As said many times, this just happend this week with LR not importing photos, and only now from this particular folder. I have imported photos from a different folder without issue.

If a box with a question mark appears in the right top corner just import again.

Some people have had issues with flickering and also with printing. At least that’s what I have read and many have said to wait until Adobe resolves these issues.

So you have no personal 1st hand experience. That counts for nothing. We don't need innuendo and hearsay to muddy the waters.

I am running Mac OS Ventura on a Mad Studio M! Ultra Chip with absolutely no problems!

If you don't want to listen to people you shouldn't ask for help. There are some great mental hospitals doing exceptional work with people that DON'T fit in.

I do not use Ventura.

I updated to Ventura last night and tried to import the photos from the desktop folder, same problem, will not import from that folder. Imports from other folders on the desktop work fine.

To other possible ideas. In the past I have had import issues with LRC. Not as bad as yours. You might want to Uninstall the program completely, then reinstall it and see if it works. Two, import from your SD card to your computer using Bridge then importing to Lightroom.

Here is a followup: Contacted an Adobe support agent again (3rd time in three days) yesterday and, again, on the phone for more than 2 hours. This agent believes that the reason why the photos cannot be imported into LR is because some of the photos are corrupt. So, moved the photos onto an external drive and tried to import one at a time. While he was on the line, some did import and others could not, so we assumed that the problem was with corrupted photos. The case was closed and the call was ended. I rebooted the system and tried to import only those photos that he was able to import, and now again nothing would import. I am now totally frustrated because I still cannot import photos into LR. I don't know what to do, call Adobe again today (4th time) to get yet another solution, or throw LR in the garbage and seek another editing software?

I told the agent that the problem is that I rely on LR, not only for editing, but for catalogging and Key Wording. So going to another editing package will be difficult unless my keywords can follow the edited photos. The agent suggested that I start using Bridge for catalloging and key wording. So, I will check out some Youtube tutorials on Bridge today to see if it can be a work around for the photos that will not import into LR.
Here is a followup: Contacted an Adobe support age... (show quote)

I did have the same problem with my old computer. There were some other issues with it so, because of its age, I decided to buy a new computer. I downloaded the right EOS Utility app from Canon and haven't had any issues downloading from my camera to the new computer and then to LR. That tells me that the issue was with the computer and not the LR program.

You can simply drag files in Finder to copy them. There is absolutely no reason to use Bridge for this step.

The Adobe agent did the uninstall and reinstall of LRC, and even went to an older version without success. ASre you saying if I import the photos in the folder first to Bridge, I can then import to LRC fromn Bridge without a problem? If that is the case, then that is the solution that I need. I will try that today!

At this point do a screen capture of each step in your process (Shift+CMD+4) to capture an area then post in order. This uses the built in Utility “Screen Capture”.

lreisner, You sir are a genius! The process oif first importing into Bridge, then from Bridge into LightRoom Classic worked. All the 206 photos from the non importable folder were edited, cataloged and keyworded in LRC through Bridge. Thank you so much, this will now be my process for non-importable photos!

Question: Did you export them from Bridge in another format or just open and then close them as a RAW file?

I used the Export tool in Bridge to send them to a folder on my Mac desktop. then imported from that folder into LRC, issue solved.

Golly, I find hard to believe that you used Bridge for that; that old, stupid person's technology that doesn't even have a database designed by professional photographers...
