It seems many of you are ignoring OP's preference for having a viewfinder.

Not ignoring it. I had the same fixation. Easy to get over with today’s polarized screens.

Have you tried a camera strap. Mine attaches at the QR point on the L-bracket. The camera lays at my side as I walk, I hardly know it's there.

Try some of the Panasonic Lumix DMC cameras. Older small sensor models can be very affordable!

I love that line from "Jaws" about a "bigger boat." I like carrying a small camera that fits into a case on my belt, but this Sony WX9 falls short. There's no viewfinder, and the picture quality leaves something to be desired unless there is lots of light. I think I'll start looking for a small camera. My cell phone is small, but it's a phone, not a camera. It doesn't have a viewfinder! 😂

In many situations, it's not practical to carry a DSLR or a mirrorless. I'm restricted to only two arms and two shoulders. I hope Human 2.0 comes better equipped.

I have the SONY RX100 VII (Latest model) The IQ is great. Yes many features, but you don't have to use them. The basics are very easy to learn. Especially if you get Alexander White's book:Phtographer's Guide to the Sony DSC RX100 VII. I have taken the camera all over the world, African Safaris, Adriatic, Scotland, Antarctica and next week Sicily. Viewfinder, 24-200 lens etc etc. Check it out!

Have you considered an Olympus PenF or Lumix GX-9 micro 4/3 camera. These cameras equipped with a small prime lens or small zoom are light weight and well suited to casual and travel photography. Used copies are available on KEH and MPB.

The latest that I have heard is OMDS is intending to continue the Pen series. Maybe the new series will have a viewfinder, either pop-up, built in, or hot shoe attachable. I am sure that sometime in the near future something will appear that will meet your wants and needs, even if it is not OMDS or Panasonic.

For now, you might see if you can find a used Olympus XA-1 or XZ-2 with detachable viewfinder (mounts on the hot shoe). It may be old and not that many megapixels, but my wife and I have no plans to sell off our XZ-1 with the detachable viewfinder. It is small and a little better still than a smartphone from certain aspects. We will replace the XZ-1 once something better comes along.

same here, my Coolpix produces excellent images but I wish I had a viewfinder instead of a back screen, especially when it’s sunny.

iPhone 14 plus has three lenses, 45 MP, RAW images and great editor. It has taken over that role from my Nikon Z50. Keeping the Z50/for wildlife with Nikon 200-400 and 1.4 TC: up to 1000 mm effective.

If I wanted to spend $1,000 on a camera, it wouldn't be a phone.

Hi Jerry,
Couple of options:
1) Sony DSC-HX99. It’s quite small, can actually fit in my T-shirt pocket. It has a view finder which is good. 30x Optical Zoom.
2) Panasonic DC-ZS-80D. It’s larger than the Sony. Can not fit in my T-shirt pocket. It also has a view finder and 30X optical zoom.
Both have their plus’ and minus’
Price wise, about the same.
